Look at all dat opposite lock!!!!!!
Thank you Aircooled!
I did a few SBC laps in the rain last night. I'm going to go with a slow and steady approach. My goal will be to remain undamaged and finish only above those who have to pit. The green painted areas are fair game - no penalties for driving through them, that changes the chicanes a lot.
I was thinking about running a panini GT for my SBC car, but it sank on its way across the pond, when the canoe it was riding on went down in a storm.

After some practice, my best lap is only 2:40.8. I wasn't kidding about my slow and steady approach to this one. My usual laps are more like 2:42-2:44 or so, and I really don't anticpate finding much more than that before Wednesday. It is a challenge to knock out good consistent laps all alone. It's going to be that much harder with a track full of cars to contend with. I'm planning on practicing in my lounge the next couple nights if anyone wants to join you are more than welcome.
Back in town and back on topic...
Please no one mess up my SBC race, like really... please.
My Mini feels awesome in the rain. I can turn 2:29s pretty consistently!!!! It is actually faster than my MX5. I am guessing the slightly less traction helps the rear end come loose and serves to balance the car more?
In MX5 it is a different story. There is a 10-15 second difference in rain to dry lap times. What I've noticed is that (in my car) the attack angle at each corner is critical. Too much angle... spin, too little angle... understeer. I am going to have to spend more time on this setup. I started by setting it to a heavy rain setup, but I'm not sure I've made up the time in the turns to compensate for loss in the straight. Best I can tell I am gaining about 2-3 mph in parabolica.
Yes, please practice... mine (and others) rear bumper will greatly appreciate it. You NEED to practice your braking.
And it's good to hear the Mini has at least one redeeming quality.
I've noticed in my practice sessions, I tend to get 2 different patterns:
Anyone else notice that?
haha what happens if you drift......constantly....like EVERY corner...
I turned like low 1:30 laps but damn was that a chore, not sure if i'll be competitive AT ALL in SBC....MX5 maybe
and all this of course depends if my internet likes me wednesday night
Brad, you need to LOCK the weather setting, otherwise is dries out pretty quick.
Of course we could always run it like that also.
Brad, either way let us know. Is it going to locked on rain or are we going to just take what we get and let the weather do what it may? I'm fine either way, but I have done zero laps in the dry so far, so if we are not locking in the rain I'd like to know so I can do some dry paractice laps too.

Ok, I would advise using the My Lounge feature for practice. I don't know if it is the "amount" of rain, the difference of online and offline physics, or what... but I am a good bit slower using the My Lounge vs the Practice. Very weird.
The "feel" of the Mini is the same, the only change really seems in the ability to get traction down coming out of a corner... it seems to take about twice as long.
Meh... ... I was hoping to the be the dominate force for a round.
Are power restrictors legal for this? Assuming of course that the car wasn't OVER the maximum in the first place.
I'm thinking about heeling my car down to like... 100hp.

I guess... I would offer up a different solution... change your gearing... my Mini is geared stupidly, but it works for my setup. It is geared to do 196mph... BUUUTTTT it really only has a chance to go about 130ish.

True, guess i could do that as well. I'll probably take off the turbo setup as well.
You'll need to log in to post.
