We'll see if PSN is back up by Wednesday. I did some practice laps yesterday and would like to know how the times translate to online laps.
I haven't practiced yet, just been grinding through the game like crazy. Think i'm 27 a-spec, and 30 b-spec now.

I googled the question of when will ps be back up and the short answer is they don't seem to actually know yet. It is said to have occured due to a problem of "an external intrusion of our system".
I too have been checking to see if they're back up because it seems that we've found a difference in on and off line performance. To me it was most noticeable at Monza.
Have any of you tried any of the online dedicated racing sites? I've watched a few videos on youtube and read the online buzz about some of them. There were so many pros and cons about them that I decided to buy the ps3 and gt5. I had played some on gt1-3 and found the "feel" to be much more realistic than any other racing game I tried, including my sons' Xbox and Forza game. I found it to be, I don't know, stiff feeling. Maybe some of you can express it better. Or maybe you don't agree. Actually even though it seemed that the graphics on most of those online sites are not nearly as good as gt5 and forza, the racing looked pretty good. I'd appreciate your input on this.
On gt5, do any of you belong to a racing league? If so, can you recommend one and tell me how to join it?
In reply to jerrylewis:
Do it!! You won't regret it. I've learned more about this game since I started 3.5 wks. ago than in all my previous solo racing.
If we race this week, I need someone to host for me. I've just been scheduled on a business trip to NJ. Damn work always getting into the way of racing.
Yeah seems PSN may be screwing us this week. I love that track....of course I belong to a GT5Elite but haven't raced much, the only league i'm joined to is this one lol but jerrylewis, yeah, join up it is awesome fun
ehhh i'm done grinding in GT5....haha on to Shift 2
It is starting to look like PSN might be down for a while. Something about a "big job" and "not clear on how long it will take".
I guess we will have to decide later if we are going to push this race or skip it (we pushed last time).
Note on the track: It is BUMPY, the Europa no likey' the bumpy! I have do dial my suspension back to Cadillac smooth just to make the car controllable.
It's to bad you can't do custom paint schemes in GT5. I could get my car painted like this:
Get it? A Europa Europa? Get it?
(I made a funny)
hahaha I lol'd aircooled
yeah ever since Friday I knew they would screw us haha I vote on pushing it, why not. I really like this track, I think it'll be a fun....and slideways race
I never switch settings on my GT-R or MX5 lol
Push don't skip.
I think we should make the call today for tomorrow's race. Since Sony says PSN is down indefinitely I vote for pushing it now.
PSN being down not only messes up this series, but I have my X2010, a GT40 race car, an M3 GTR race car, and a couple others set to online status. I cannot use them myself at this point. Same for my B spec dudes. They are all online so I cannot get them back to do a race with them or even retire them and make new ones. I was thinking about letting a few of them run the two 24 hour races this weekend while I am at the Mitty.
Pushing sounds good to me. I checked again this morning and they still aren't saying how long this will take to correct. I've practiced a little bit now and am finding I love the MX5 on this track. The 110S, well, what can I say. I've changed settings untill I'm sick of it. I finally realized that it will never be worth a crap on these tires so I'm ready when the network is.
Have any of you ever played "Grand Prix Legends"? I think this is the game that came out many years ago for computer use. 12 or so years ago many said it was THE best racing sim. The youtube videos aren't really that impressive so I was wondering if anyone knows how the game really plays. It's apparently gone through many updates and even includes Can Am now. It appears to include at least 2 decades of F1 car evolution. The latest cars I saw on the videos were late sixties.
I am good with pushing. It helps with points / drops / etc... And it gives me the chance to defend my 2nd place position in SBC.
Check the statements of any credit cards you have linked to your PSN account for any unauthorized charges, and once PSN has recovered, change your password right away!
Yup, changed mine, looks like they haven't tapped into my card, thank god
Damn.......canoes invaded PSN.....amazing job!.....damn! hahaha

Yet. Just because you haven't seen any fraudulent charges right away doesn't mean your credit card info isn't floating around the darker recesses of teh Intarwebz as we speak. Sony's not giving out any details yet on if and how many credit cards were compromised. Someone else here at work who was affected suggested calling the three credit reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion, Experian) and placing your credit monitoring on high alert (it is free).
Ok.
We are officially pushing at least 1 week, pending Sony giving us back PSN.
We will reevaluate on Monday, if not sooner.

I haven't touched GT5 since....... March I miss racing with you guys!
What do we need to do to prevent problems from occurring from the PSN hacking? I read this morning that the hackers had enough of our personal info. to do major personal damage to us. What can we do to protect ourselves from this? I never used my credit card in the system and have only used it online once. NEVER AGAIN! That didn't turn out good. Should I change all my passwords? I don't remember what I gave them when I opened the acct. other than my name.
I assume that my computer id code is stored on PSNs side of the acct. If that's true does that give hackers access to my computer? I would appreciate any advice you might have.

Change your passwords, monitor your credit card for fraudulent charges. It's not really the end of the world that most would make it out to be.
You'll need to log in to post.
