not sure how accurate this is, but good reviews from picky BS#2 and SWMBO!

Gulyas was a big hit here, and OMG I totally understand just eating the paprika paste on crackers, bread, etc. It is so good.

I've got all the ingredients for the gulyas, gonna start cooking shortly and have that for dinner tonight. The chicken paprika sounds delicious, I'll probably do that one early next week. For the hazi Kreme, I'll wait til AK2 is home from school, as she's the only other sweet tooth in the family.
In reply to 914Driver :
Google tells me it is "spiced bitters", and it is consumed as an aperitif, a digestif, an herbal medicine, and as Bill said, when dudes are out taking shots. I assume it is akin to Jagermeister. I will report on this at a later time.
yeah, it was first described to me as "Jagermeister with herbs"
which is both "accurate" and "not helpful at all" as Angry is going to find out here shortly

i'm going to bring both shots to the Challenge. I will wander the field looking for my favorite car. When I find that car, I will offer to do the shot with the owner.

I simultaneously hope you like my rx8, and hope you don't. I am intrigued about this flavor situation, but also a bit scared.
In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :
I'm going to try that gulyas recipe. I've been making goulash pretty regularly with the paprika but it's a simpler recipe. That looks like it's going to have much more flavor. The paste is good stuff too. I've used it in all sorts of things.
In reply to Wally (Forum Supporter) :
When I make it again I'm either reducing the amount of potato or increasing the amount of beef. I think the recipe was not written with our gigantic American potatoes in mind.
Also, I did make mine with the beans, which I overcooked to the point that they halfway fell apart in the final simmering of the gulyas. The disintegrated beans thickened the broth nicely, made it more stew-like vs soup. I loved it.

I am unsure if the rabbit is an Easter Joke since I was so late...
Not at all! Simon is just a very curious guy, as rabbits tend to be. Man, life happens. I'm not worried. Thanks for getting it out at all!
Alright, so let's get this sucker ripped open and...ah, well, yeah, she's sorta pre-ripped. All the easier.
As is tradition, Little Monohue is on hand to help.
Peeling back the lid a little, it's not as empty as the condition suggests. Ol' light of my life told me it was only mostly blowed apart when the mailman brought it up the drive, and then popped the rest of the way after he set it down, like the Bluesmobile arriving at the Richard J. Daley Plaza.
A little more cutting...
"Let ME see!"
More to come. Burritos have arrived.
We now return you to your post-burrito continuation.
A hasty picking of the low-hanging fruit shows promise. And also makes visible the highly coveted Matchbox. "That's mine!"
She's a beaut, Clark. I do love the Matchbox AW11. This will go splendidly with our red example. And just look at that metalflake.
Having procured a momentary distraction, the helper allows me time to spread our winnings out and take inventory.
Let's see. A once-flat, currently bent like a bernanner exhaust manifold gasket for five as-yet unidentified cylinders. (An omen? I have considered adding a cylinder to my own non-Matchbox AW11. That might take it from Barbie Ferrari to, I dunno, Gunkyard Gallardo? A stretch, comedically and practically speaking.) A variety pack of heat shrink tubing, because a huge assortment is always just the right size. Some much-needed Fast Orange, an equally fast and equally orange Hot Wheels Jeep J10 desert racer, magnifying glass, safety squints, a teeny tabletop tripod, muffler clamp, a quality publication implying I might put more thank ice in my whiskey. There's some manner of colossal nut here, a lovely aluminum shift knob which will absolutely be used on something or another, a mystery pointy thing, friction tape (YES MORE TAPE!), mechanic's wire (YES MORE WIRE!). Some Ford style vacuum bushings, mystery keys, an historic sparking plug that fits both 2-cycle and 4-cycle contraptions, a little bottle, a pen, and four little steel shims or wedges or tabs of some kind I am embarrassed to admit are not familiar enough to identify. A thoroughly used Husky socket, a gas flow regulator I should know more about, two matching spring clamps, a length of some manner of stainless steel round stock, and a "China" brand ratchet that is not the worst ratchet I own.

Awesome description; I can totally see it in my mind's eye! 🤣

She said he set it down and scrambled away like MacGruber defusing a bomb!
Okay, back to the serious matter at hand. I believe the kids call this process "unboxing the haul".
Here's a better pic of the mystery pointy thing. I ain't sure what it does, but it's not leaking, so it's probably alright.
Here's a better look at the shift knob, the Hot Wheels truck, and the keys. The brass one is Snap-On, and the red is Porsche. Baby! We're rich!
He took the keys to my brand new Porsche.
Let's see. We got us the traditional license plates! Excellent.
And we'll be right back after these bedtime stories.
Approaching the end now. Time to address the big greazy elephant in the room. By which I mean the big greazy intake manifold in the room. Or, rather, the totes adorbs, teensy weensy intake manifold in the room. Lacking a banana, we'll use a Hot Wheels car for scale.
It doesn't look like anything I've ever toyed with, but this looks like an clue. Is that an Opel insignia?
The number didn't help in tracking this down, but some slipshod detective work points toward an Opel 1900. Super weird. I dig it.
We got literature! I'll read this. There was a time when I rode motorcycles, and a time when I went though a lot of printed magazines. I have missed both. The stickers make a fine collection, too.
There's one I couldn't make out, though. What is the story on this one?
Finally, the peeyace du reesistonce - the aforementioned little bottle. This one comes bearing its factory fill of genuine New Hampshire maple syrup. I was excited to try this stuff. Evidently, so is the boy, who declared, "that's for me!" for like the fourteenth time and yoinked it just as the picture was snapped. On this I will put my foot down. We share this.
An excellent assortment, and worth the wait. Thanks, preach!
Sticker is from a Deejo pocket knife, they are pretty neat.
Gasket is from a Lambo, it was going to go on my VW 5cyl, but would have looked worse than it does now by the time I need it.
Intake is from a 1970s Opel 1900 4cyl. Unneeded see above.
Syrup should be tried on vanilla ice cream but mostly saved for your breakfast of choice.
Sorry for the delay.
Now that my box got opened I will open the one I received. Bear with me though I am an Apple guy but currently have an Android that I have no clue how to use.
You'll need to log in to post.
