Yesterday, marked the 3rd-4th time, I've randomly had my lips swell up and go slightly numb. Before the 2nd Benadryl kicked in my lips were starting to look like a bad lip injection for someone who wanted Angelina Jolie lips. It what getting difficult to speak as my lips were swelling so much. But the 2nd Benadryl started to work as we waited for the doc to see me.

No tongue swelling or gums, no throat swelling, no difficulty breathing..........just cheap plastic surgery looking implants for lips.

Have no idea what it could be at this point. I've never had any allergies (outside of the sniffly type) to food or medications or anything of that nature. And Sunday for lunch, I literally had leftovers from the night before.

I'll be curious what they find once I'm able to get an appointment scheduled.

I carry one as well.  The generic ephedrine injectors are cheaper.

I thought many had been pulled off the market and it was basically just Mylan now?

I'm thankful for our good insurance. My 2-pack was only $100 at the pharmacy today.

First, I'm sorry for your situation.  I live with "ordinary" allergies, but I've also had the whole mouth-&-throat-swelling thing a couple of times, and it ain't no fun whatsoever.

Second, a quick PSA about epipens, courtesy of my favourite paramedic: pay attention to how they work and make sure you get it right.  Yes, they're designed to be simple, but in the stress of the moment they can be activated upside down.  My f. p. says, "That needle is designed to punch through denim, and it is NOT polite.  If you get it wrong, it usually doesn't go into your thumb, it goes through your thumb."

Which I gotta figure would make a bad day even worse.

Not to make light of your situation but I really want to see pictures of your Angelina Jolie lips now.

Mylan has a discount card on their website.  Serious allergies are no joke... Hope you never need to use the epi!

My wife had the exact same problem as the OP.  It eventually went away and has never happened again.

Nope. You need to have the script written for generic ephedrine autoijector. Costs me $20 for a two pack.

That sucks. My oldest son would swell up and get to the point were he could not breath, I can't tell you how many times I put him in the passenger seat of my S2000 and had to race to the hospital.

They finally figured out he was allergic to dog's saliva. He is 13 now and still gets rashes but its not as bad as when he was a little kid.

This is how it would start, look at his eye:

Same kid now, he gets rashes and its somewhat difficult to breath but not as bad:

They sell or give you "practice" epi pens. We had one for my son so that he could practice using it.

Yeah, it's really strange. No mouth/throat swelling and no difficulty breathing or anything, just the gross lips. Sorry I didn't get any pics. My girlfriend was freaking out about taking me to urgent care. Since I wasn't having any other issues I wasn't too concerned, but I know to pick my battles. laugh

Fueled, I'll keep that in mind in case it turns out to be something I need to keep on me after I get the allergy test done.

And I'm, unfortunately well aware of the injectable drugs. When my girlfriend first started using them for her RA, I accidentally activated it the wrong way. Right into my thumb, it hurt like hell and bled quite a bit. She now uses a different injectable pen that doesn't hurt her nearly as bad so she just does it herself.

Yeah, but it's pretty fool proof. Pull off the safety cap, jam into your outer thigh and hold for 3 seconds.

You'll need to log in to post.
