That sucks, sorry to hear. Maybe time to go to a big company.

Group home work. Right now she's a direct care staff for a giant social services group here in MN. With MN being on the forefront of social services care for the underserved, they're only growing around here. She recently completed her BS in Social Services/Disability Studies. She working on becoming a Community advocate- basically she's in charge of plugging people in to services for themselves or family member that may not have access or not be aware of the programs. I could write a novel about what she does and what it means (I was on the insurance side of it for 7+ years before I quit, so I know both sides quite well supply, and demand) but safe to say, its not going anywhere any time soon.

so she's going to blame you for the company going under .... wow man, that's sorta harsh ... good luck with A: surviving supper and B: with the interview

Thank you man, that really meant a lot.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
I survived round 1, we'll see how tonight goes after I get the full skinny from the boss man.
He owes me 50 hours of PTO, so the final check should at least cover me for a couple of weeks.
Really sorry to hear about it. I work in auto claims, but I'd imagine it's the same for you...there are always jobs out there for claims folk. So hopefully you'll find something in a hurry.
Sorry to hear about the job loss, that really sucks. Hopefully the wife will be understanding about the situation and will help you find a new job or be amenable for new opportunities.
I'm on my third job in 3 years...left the two previous ones of my own accord when I sensed things going not-quite-the-way-they-should-be in the company. Both times I ended up advancing in my field (engineering) for more money.
Here's wishing some of that good ju for you in your current situation.
+1 for the change-hopefully-for-the-better... I hope you survive the "until then" with a minimum of stress and strife...
Not to sound like a jerk but for some reason I thought you hated your job anyway. Not that it relieves the pain of a sucker punch to the junk that a layoff notice entails.
I'm sorry for the surprise good luck on the next life
Sorry Jav. I've been there. Take the time to regroup and then you can figure out what direction to go in.
Maybe it's time to get that transcontinental AMC pipeline going with the family in FL?

This....It has me scrambling for a weekend job to put extra $ into savings just in case. I always keep posting my resume for new jobs too just in case. You never know.
Sorry to hear Jav. Hopefully that interview goes well for you on Monday. Best of luck.

yeah, that industry isn't going anywhere.. one of my friends and his wife are well on their way to starting a pretty big adult group home empire in the St Cloud area.. they buy a house, add a couple of bedrooms, and then the state pays them to let people that can't quite function on their own in the real world live there... might be a good industry to get into...
It's rock solid, that's for sure. Once I get my own E36 M3 in line, we may very well look at opening a few of these. Wife isn't happy unless she's in charge, and one sure way to be in charge is to own the sumbitch.
