...you know, as opposed to those saws that do something other than cut things off...

Anybody have experience with these bad boys? I'd be using it primarily for masonry, cutting bricks and such for my ongoing brick oven build, but I wouldn't be opposed to keeping it around for metal work in the future, too.

For about the price of a decent masonry blade, how good/bad could this thing be? It doesn't have to last a lifetime; I need probably under 100 cuts before it can assplode and I won't mind.

What say the masses about this Fischer-Price looking chop saw?

If it's bought as disposible, it's OK. I got their 9" angle grinder + a diamond blade to demolish a masonry bathroom 5 years ago and I can't kill it.

If you want years of cutting metal, buy a horizontal bandsaw, preferably a 7x12.

I just wouldnt want it assploding in my face.

Shame Harbor Freight doesnt make a cheap SawStop, but for such a good product I guess they deserve that right for awhile.

I've had mine (it's the orange HF one) for about 8 years now with a few hundred cuts.

I'm like Grtechguy, got an old orange one. Mine's been OK, not exemplary but for what I paid I can't complain.

I'd really like a bandsaw but there's just not enough room in my current garage.

I have that exact cut-off. I use it for metal and I've done some pretty hefty cutting with it. Plenty of power, deck sucks, clamp/vise sucks, but I've been impressed. I've probably had it for 5-6 years and it has cut a LOT of steel.

As long as you're not looking for high-precision, its awesome. Its a beast. Its not sophisticated, its a cheap chop saw.
