EDIT: Roadworthy Rescues.
These things come and go, but .....
I like this guy. Buys a car from the woods - fields of Tennessee, gets it running and tries to drive it home. GRM? Maybe not, but more so than the spin offs with crazy deadlines, shop grabass and too much drama.
Heck, I learned that a distributor is called a spark-o-lator and he makes some paint juice of mineral spirits, linseed oil & penetrating oil? It shines rust. Give it a look before he gets canned.
Dan
I tried to like this show.
I like the concept, and Spark-o-lator was kind of funny the first time, but then I couldn't take the non-stop goofy names for stuff.
He seems like a nice guy, but the show is unwatchable.
In reply to 914Driver :
If a feller is itching for more of Derek, he started and is still well establish on Youtube as Vice Grip Garage doing just this.
dude talks and moves too slow for me. i watch at 2x speed. Vice Grip Garage "Will it drive xxx Miles Home" videos are pretty entertaining and somewhat interesting, but after you've seen 3 or 4 it's really all the same.

Never seen this, but I've watched his YT channel for years. I skim through some episodes, and others I can watch from end to end.
Watched his YouTube channel for about the last year, and I agree it can be a bit repetitive.
One of his more recent episodes was a good change of pace though, where he tried to revive a Grand National. He had to deal with mid 80s tech instead of the old carbed stuff. He actually tried to be more 'educational' and methodical with his fixes than just taping and jb welding something to get it home like in other episodes. You could tell this was a bucket list type of car for him, and cared a lot more about it.
Seems like it is similar to his YouTube channel, just better production values. For Vice Grip Garage, I just watch the ones that are of interest, and skip the others. The resurrect/long drive ones are only interesting to me if the car itself is something kind of cool. I don't plan on watching any more 73-87 C/K resurrection episodes, those are a little too repetitive.
For me, his stuff is perfect for putting on the screen while I wrench on the car. I catch some of it, I laugh a bit, I can relate to it, and if he is still working on a frustrating issue, so can I!
I have watched a few episodes and paid attention while I had a home day from work, but other than that, I enjoy the background noise without needing to fully engage.
I am always a bit amazed in such shows / situations that most all the cars seem to have great rings, bearing, valves etc. So, why were they parked?
I have a feeling that if I tried such a thing, it would result in a lot of smoke shows and knocking and tapping.
How about that show (on MT) that is... not kidding... people who wash cars!
Wildly obviously setup in most cases. Lots of crap clearly being thrown on cars right before filming.
It's essentially a flipper show, for people who manage to find very dirty but mostly perfectly functional old cars.... yeah.

I don't think you have seen many episodes. That is the rule with his cars it seems. They all smoke, have crap compression and usually need a massive rebuild (if they even run at all).

I don't know how anyone cannot like Derek Bieri. I have absolutely zero interest in anything Chevrolet but I'll watch him do a video of one because, Derek.
"Sleeperdude" on YouTube is even more folksy/redneck. Car revival/repair interspersed with shots of goats and pigs. I do skip the repetitive pressure washing ones though.
"NoNonsenseKnowHow" is better for those of you who don't like anyone with a 'schtick'. That guy just fixes stuff. I swear there's nothing he doesn't have stashed away in his tiny garage.

I just found this channel about a month back and it's great. I swear the guy has a Napa warehouse in that garage.
I wonder how many hackers have been enabled by this show to go find junk and get it running. Having BTDT I find his workmanship more in line with lawn tractor repairs and would be embarrassed selling one of his "finished" cars to someone else.

When he sells them, they are sold as projects.
