So I was at a yardsale today and bought a Heathkit CO-1015 oscilloscope. Neat. I also found some user manuals on ebay but it doesn't have the cord/sensor on it. I couldn't find one of those on ebay.
Anyone know anything about them? Are there grassroots plans for using a coat hanger or small raccoon wrapped in tinfoil to get it to work?
At any rate, it was 50 cents. I also got a vintage A/C vacuum pump that works like a charm for $5
I'm not sure of the model number but I picked up a heathkit oscilloscope based engine analyzer at a swap meed a few years ago with all the attachments, I don't recall them being that complex (maybe an inductive pickup and a few leads?)
The guy I got it from had never used it and did not know if it worked, when I got it home I plugged it in only to let the smoke out. Apparently the original owner had stuck the user manual inside the case and it was pressing on a power wire causing a short and burning some paper. I never tried to replace the wire but I do have the user manual, if a little charred. It is not local to me now so I can't scan it or anything, but like most heathkits the electronics looked pretty sturdy and I'm sure I could repair mine easily.
Maybe take the case off and see if someone stored the leads inside?
Reminds me that I have too much stuff....
I have one too...also missing the leads.
Visiting my parents to do some errands and took some pictures.
The atachments are a timing light, inductive pickup, 2 hots, a ground. There is also some type of resistor block, looks like it attaches to a battery post.
I was thinking about it but did not get around to it, I will try to get a picture of the wiring diagram to find out the pin outs so you could wire up your own pickup, hot and timing light.
If you have any more requests of specific things to take pictures of let me know, there are probably a few hundred pages so I'd rather not scan everything.
........having trouble uploading pics, will update in a second.
Wow... thanks for the pics!
This brings back memories. I built a Dwell Meter/Tack from heathkit. I still have it and it works but who needs to measure dwell in this pointless automotive world. I also have one of their 100 watt intergrated stereo amps. I don't use it but I know it still works, even after 30 years!

I will buy that amplifier. Seriously. Dunno how desirable they are to real collectors, I'm just a guy with a proclivity for odd old electronics, and right now I've decided pretty much every room in my house needs a vintage hi-fi unit of some kind (God help me).

"Rotary engine"
Anyone have a Heathkit CO-2600. Have 2 working CO-1015's Can do repair for unit.
Thanks,

I have one, although I haven't use it in decades. The shunt device is for checking the alternator. You should get a characteristic ripple, the top part of a converted sine wave with no missing intervals, which would indicate a bad diode. Remember, an alternator can be partially functional and adequate if you don't overload it.
