I like names that just mean "dog" in another language.

Don't give him a human name. Give him something you'd never name a kid, like turbo.

We added Morris to the unofficial official name because Morris is Latin for mutt

So, what you are telling me, is that there really WAS

a cat named "dog"?

From what I hear about Aussie Sheepdogs you'll need to call him "Terror". Failing that, "Max", naturally.

I'm thinking the rescue folks were sipping on grandad's old cough medicine. He does not look like au aussie at all. Shirt hair, stocky build. His mom looked to have rottweiler colorings. He has that build.

Do a Google image search of what you think he is. My dog was listed as "Chihuahua" on his adoption papers and at the time I thought they were smoking crack. When he was a puppy everyone said he was a Cairn Terrier, and he looked just like a Cairn puppy. Then he grew up a bit and I started to wonder. Do a Google image search of "Chihuahua Cairn Terrier mix" and damn if half the pictures look just like Dexter.

So give him some time to grow into himself and he might surprise you.

Mad Max Rockatansky

Shorten it to Max, Rocket, Raggedy Man, etc.

After looking at his pictures again, he's "Buddy," ... definitely!

My wife strongly agrees!

Bad idea, IMO.

It's a puppy being introduced into a new environment. It WILL do things that it needs to be broken of.

Natural reaction would be to say "No, Buddie". After a couple weeks of this, you will have a dog with identity issues, because he thinks his name is "Nobody".

Geez, that doesn't make any sense to me (nor your text). But it really doesn't matter. It's Knurled's decision what he wants to name his dog. We're just in it to add opinions. But what perplexes me is people like you who nit picks other peoples' opinions.

My buddy had a greyhound named Miura, then a husky named Carrera. I called that dog "914-6."

My late, great border collie I initially named Bruce, but later to Jock (Jocko).

Our current dog is a border collie-golden retriever mix named Clyde.

I think Jeff, Bruce and Roger are good dog names.
