Of course the price is crazy(I actually know the seller, he's a picker & bit of a nut job himself), but I figure the only way this thing survived is that it was broken down most of the time???

Diesel? and in a cool named city? But yes, a little on the high side of a four digit price.

If it were not a diesel, it would probably be worth it as a driver. As a gas car, though, it probably would have had a lot more miles on it.

how many headgaskets do you think it has been through?

Now guys remember the fun you can have converting that motor to a fire breathing gas stroker.

Ten years or so ago, I knew a kid who had a gas version of the same car, in beige, with a beige interior, with the the clear-plastic-custom-fit-grandma-seatcovers on both seats. It had like 15000 miles on it, cost his parents $2,000, and he proceeded to rag the E36 M3 out of it in like six months.

It should find a home in a very large museum full of GM clunkers.

i don't consider that to be a "malaise era" car... it was a new body style that came out in 1977 and stayed around until 1990 or so- the new downsized fullsize cars that was based on the midsize chassis from the "malaise era"..
