I just saw a trailer for History of the World, Part II.
It's a four part thing, coming out in March on Hulu, with a bunch of comedy heavy hitters in the cast.
Mel Brooks is a 96 year old comedy genius with nothing left to lose at this point.
I can't wait to see this thing.
If you're of a certain age, the Mel Brooks comedies of the 70s and 80s were an integral part of your upbringing. History of the World Part 1 was in heavy rotation when we first got cable in 1983 or so. I think I still know damn near every word.
Can't wait.
Thats Nuts, N V T S, Nuts!
I remember watching History of the World Part 1 with my parents when I was younger. After the credits rolled, young, naive me asked my parents if we could watch Part 2.
Jokes finally on you mom and dad–I'm going to watch Part 2.
Have you seen a pack of Trojans?
It's good to be The King.
They really should have made it, "History of the World, Part III"
I still hope for Spaceballs II: the search for more money.
"Did you kill today?"
"Did you try and kill today?"
I am a bit concerned though that Mel Brooks's movies would not fly today. His humor is essentially based on being offensive (much of it self-referential of course). Way too many people being offended for other people now.
I do really hope they ignore the above concerns and do it "old school", the way Mel has always done it. Otherwise, it really won't be the same, or as good.

Hes 96. A Jew who fought Nazis in WWII. What harm could someone possibly think they could inflict upon him? He's earned at least 45 gallons of FU juice.

Yeah. There's no way you could make 'Blazing Saddles' today.
If you did, someone would just go "WTF is this? This is Blazing Saddles! Mel Brooks made this movie already, like, 50 years ago!"
Oh, I certainly don't think Mel is concerned about himself or gives an F. But the other actors, the network... they can be "gotten" to, they have things to loose.
"Occupation?"
"Stand up philosopher."
"Oh, a bullE36 M3ter. Did you bullE36 M3 today?"

I was born in '82 and love Mel Brooks.
Then again my dad was taking me to Ozzy and Metallica in middle school, so my parents weren't exactly squares.

Actually Mel did remake it, just didn't call it Blazing Saddles

This is uhh pretty terrible, sad to say. Finishing episode 6 now and it's really hard to watch.
It has its moments, but few and far between.
Ok finished it, wound up skipping most of the last two episodes.
After watching the movie last night, this was such a huge let down.
Unfortunate, but not really surprising. Some things are better left alone.
Mel Brooks, Sheckey Greene, Bob Newhart - old school guys I didn't realize were still alive.
In reply to RevRico :
Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Mel and I only made it through about 20 minutes of episode 1. I think somebody else wrote the show and hired Mel to do a voiceover.

Well there's your problem. What should be a tight 90 minute movie is being stretched out into a multi-hour series episode nightmare.
It is horrible. Mrs. preach and I lasted one and a half skits before turning it off.
I prefer Drunk History so much more.

If we cut it down to the parts that were actually funny, it would be about 8 minutes long, counting intro and credit times.
The jackass crew doing Rasputin deaths was the only part that was any good.
Someone should get Wanda Sykes off the typewriters.

Might have made it 20 minutes. It was indeed unwatchable.
