Plus we play in a band together, she plays sax/synth/piano/organ and sings along with doing bad ass graphic design, i play guitar, backup sing and write at least the framework of the songs. Its a hell of a lot of fun and our first live show is gonna be at our wedding

Cars. Mainly autocross but starting with the track events now.

My wife is the regional exec for SCR-SCCA. Any more, she is the one that drags me to the events rather than the other way around. She got her novice TT license last weekend and competed Sunday and loved it so she and a couple of other ladies have formed an all girls Lemons team to run the spring race at CMP. I'm hoping I can get them to figure out what is wrong with the clutch in the Civic.

With my ex- it was cars and home improvement projects. However, it eventually turned into me working on a project and her complaining I wasn't done yet.  And as long as they were her  projects.  My projects - notsomuch. She is a lot more into painting and car detailing than I am, so that worked out sometimes.

I would try to join with her hobbies (doll house furniture, among other side-hustle ideas) she had zero interest in supporting any of my hobbies (cycling, music).  Which is the main reason we're not together anymore.

A big issue is she has a closet competitive streak and hates losing.  She has the raw talent ot be good at autocross but is not willing to accept the learning curve.  I would beat her not because of talent, but simply because I've been racing bikes for ages and the concept of reading a course and lines is something I had a good grasp on before I tried autocross.  It was similar with video games.  All was good as long as she was winning. Oh boy did she get pissed when she realized I was letting her win...

We're both into health/nutrition/bodybuilding.  So we go to the gym together, which is fun.

We both like sports, so we'll watch NFL, MLB, NHL, NASCAR together.  I'll also watch HGTV shows with her, though we rarely find time to watch TV.

Beyond that, we're elbows and eyeballs deep in our kids sports that it becomes the focal point of our hobbies together...attending the kids things.  We just got home from spending about 12 hours over the past 2 days on the lacrosse fields.

We ride motorcycles,  go kayaking,  have season passes to the local summer theater, occasional hikes and we used to travel a bit but are now taking care of a couple of our grandkids so some of those activities have taken a back seat for a while.

Video games. We play a lot of cooperative video games together - Diablo, Little Big Planet, all the LEGO games and adaptations. I’m about to sit down with her for some game time now.

We’re not big travelers, but we would like to be. Mostly though we are cheapskates who don’t really like to be inconvenienced... not great globe trekker material.

We also enjoy helping each other with our own hobbies.

She helps me with autocross event management from organizing preregistration through the event day. She keeps the T+S tent running smoothly so I can oversee the entire event and even drive in it. She has no interest in driving competitively (though she likes driving in general).

We have run a dozen or more road rallies together and usually do very well. We run in Seat Of Pants class (in-car instruments only, no calculators or GPS) and have had several sub-100 point finishes in 2-3 hour courses.  Oddly enough we never fight while rallying.  She will navigate happily for TSD or scavenger rallies but having to do both at the same time gives her a headache.

She is an avid knitter.  I learned a few simple stitches but do not really knit.  But I advise her on shaping and calculation and color selection, and I know my way around a yarn shop.  We make several trips a year to either shows or sheep-and-wool festivals.  I enjoy helping her do things she likes to do.

Seriously though, I feel we have a pretty unusual relationship. We don’t really have any common interests - we don’t even eat the same foods - but we’re the right kind of people for each other.

I could have typed every single word of this myself.  The primary time waster we end up doing together is yard work which, true to form, she loves and I hate.  We did used to enjoy going to my son's sporting events, but he's sort of grown out of organized sports at this point.

We get so busy with our own separate hobbies that our time together without responsibilities is pretty much down time.

She plays sardo in a samba drum outfit 2 nights a week, runs a hairdressing academy after her day job managing a salon, has several dance classes a month and a few other things. I'm at work 10 hours a day and then stay late working on my own car projects, furniture fabrication and prototyping for friends businesses,  amature luthiery on weekends and guitars.

Our time together is spent cooking, hiking with the dogs, art walks, dinners with friends, dog parks, doing the shopping and whatnot. We make it all fun. Oh and as much live music as we can soak up too

My friend, I have no doubt you already know this, but I'll say it anyway...enjoy every second of it.  Kara and I used to do pretty much everything together too, you name it, we were together.  Once kids came along, especially after the twins, that all changed.  Don't get me wrong, you know how I feel about my kids.  But man, do I miss being able to spend more time with her.  Which is why it's more important than ever that she and I try to find time to carve out and do something together, even if it's being in the gym together at 4:30am.

Yeah, sure, rub it in.  We're actually starting to see glimpses of that.  The kids are 14, 10, 10 now so they're getting pretty independent.  The real time killer for us is all their sports.  We go 11 months a year, 5-7 days a week.  Often, all 3 have something on the same day, at the same times, in different places.  Add in  our full time jobs and regular house chores, and well...you know the drill.  There are many days where I will literally see the inside of my house for 15 minutes from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed.  However, on the rare day we don't have kids sports all day or aren't running around like crazy people we'll find enough time to go get a cup of coffee.  The kids are more than capable of managing themselves for a little while.

Now that I think about it, I forgot to mention Friday night dinners.  We wait until about 9pm to eat and the kids are not allowed to be around.  That tradition started  years ago when the kids were really little. They'd go to bed at 8pm, then we'd enjoy a nice quiet takeout dinner.  It was bliss.  Now that they're older, they're still awake, but we send them upstairs to play Xbox or whatever.  It's one of my favorite moments of the week.

Dog things.

When we got our dog back in 2014, we had no idea what we were getting into. I had owned dogs before with my family, but she had never had a pet outside of an ill-fated hamster named Romeo who broke out of its cage and disappeared (to find Juliet?). We rescued a Pit/Shepherd mix, and she was rough around the edges and had no training.

So we started there, with training.

That turned into us going nearly every Friday night to a training class. After she graduated the training program, we went to the advanced classes. After that, we did a local dog show, up against AKC purebreds and she held her own. After doing that, we got her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. And after that, she got her Therapy Dog credentials. Now, she goes every other weekend to an adult group home and "does a heckin' therapy" with adults with special needs.

Joining the dog club also led to us meeting other people with dogs and going hiking with the group and even just the three of us. We haven't had time to go this year, but we love doing that too.

Similar to what was said before. We don't really have any specific hobbies that we do together, but more so end up doing most things together, as they're more enjoyable with the other one around.

That includes Most outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, dog walking, motorcycle rides, etc, as well as were both on the surgery team for the local humane society.

She doesn't really enjoy working on things, but will hang out with me while I do, same as I don't really enjoy sewing, but will hang out with her while she sews.

This is me as well. While we do play video game together, and bother each other with cat pictures, we do a lot of this. Orlando is people watching heaven, and as we both like to food explore, it gives us a really diverse view of people.
