In light of my 3 most recent Amazon orders mysteriously showing as delivered on the tracking number, but not on my porch when I got home, it's time for some security cameras. Unfortunately I live in town, so this is an issue. Honestly I'm a little surprised it has taken this long. For now I have all my shipments heading to my parents house instead.
To start, I ordered one of these: $63 on Amazon Warehouse Deals
I'll hook it up to regular power and put an SD card in it. Should be a good start.
Once I have some more time, I'll run some CAT6 to a poe switch in the basement and hook up another camera or two and an NVR.
We'll see how it goes! Anyone else want to show your setup?

If they're coming via USPS, the post office has found it better to mark Amazon packages delivered when they aren't to keep their delivery contract and just make Amazon deal with the returns/complaints about products not showing up on time.

I believe they have all been USPS so far. Once was last Wednesday, last Friday, and then just yesterday. Amazon makes you wait 36 hours before they will process a replacement or refund, I'm sure because of what you just mentioned. The first 2 orders I've already ordered the replacement, yesterday's will have to wait a bit before I can complain to the Amazons.
I’m interested in this thread.

I put together a little 4 camera system at work for about $200 that works pretty well. I used This kit and a 3 TB hard drive to give over a week of footage. You can also configure it for mobile alert and viewing, but I don't have it in a web connection so I haven't used those features.
Somebody on the forum design/installs security systems or used to do that and would provide helpful info when these posts came up. Can't remember the user name though.
