So SWMBO says she wants a radio. Simple right?
Then she says no wires running all over the place. She also wants to blue-tooth from her phone. And connect it to the tv/movie players. And she wants the main speakers not to be next to the tv. And it needs to look nice. And, and ,and ,and......

So what I now need is a stereo receiver with a couple of inputs,be able to bluetooth from a phone, Am/FM radio, a wired center channel speaker or sound bar thing, and the problem one--it needs to be able to send out multiple bluetooth signals for the wireless speaker towers(she doesn't want just tiny little wireless surround speakers).
Any audio guys have any suggestions?

This would solve the wires everywhere problem:

You could go with a surface mount raceway. In these parts it goes by the name "wiremold."

The wireless speaker towers aren't really really wireless unless you put batteries or generators in them, so presumably a wire that goes a short distance and plugs into the wall is OK?

I recommend in-wall keystone jacks with banana plug sockets on them.

If you want the center channel to sound good, it needs to have a single midrange and single tweeter driver aligned vertically in the center, with bass drivers left/right. Avoid those with horizontally spaced midranges, because they produce noticeable changes in the audio as your listening position changes.

The towers could be put near a power outlet, she just doesn't want wires running along the ceiling or floor.

We just moved into the house so she would be very much not happy with me drilling holes all over. Plus the house sits on a concrete slab and has a flat roof with no attic.

The main issue I am having is finding a receiver that can send out multiple bluetooth signals. I would like at least 2 towers, if it could send signals to another zone(ie a bedroom) that would be a big plus.

There are quite a few options for 900 Mhz, 2.4 Ghz, and 5.8 Ghz wireless transmitters available, assuming the goal is simply getting a signal from the receiver to the speaker. As cordous pointed out though, you'll still need power on the speaker end wireless receiver.

I guess you'd need an amplified wireless transmitter, or use powered speakers.

The idiot-proof solution that sounds good would be the Sonos system. Their speakers genuinely sound great and they make multi-input multi-room listening a breeze (if desired) when managed with your phone or iPad. The downside is they cost about twice what a comparable do it yourself system would cost. My parents bought into it and love theirs. I can confirm the ease of setup too, since that got pawned off on me one Christmas a few years back!

Trying to do it all wireless is going to cost more, sound worse and be unreliable/flaky. If you're trying to use it for TV audio, it's going to introduce a noticeable phase delay into the audio signal, so the sound will lag the action on the screen. It's also (as you're discovering) going to be difficult to find hardware that does it, because most people don't want to do it for those reasons.

5:1 home theatre in a box sounds like the best compromise. Bluetooth, wireless sub, and some (Yamaha?)have a built in AM/FM tuner.

You'll need to log in to post.
