Got sent down to Sheboygan, WI from Green Bay this week to do some sampling on the Sheboygan River PCB Cleanup. I thought there might actually be some relief being on the lake, but I forgot that I still had to wear my Tyvek, life jacket and steel toes on the boat. I think i lost 20 pounds. Looks like I get to deal with 4 more rounds of that this week. I thought I lived in WI because it was supposed to be cold here!!

I never liked hot weather, and I'm getting even more cranky the older I get. We had a new record for heat index here today, I think it was 119.

Yeah.

The AC in my van is broke, so I figure if I have to have hot wind blowing on my face, berk it, I'm riding my motorcycle.

I also have low blood pressure and the cold doesn't bother me. The heat doesn't bother my much anymore either. Supposed to be 36 C here on Thursday. It's typically 10 degrees hotter at work. We'll see how that goes.

In my job, sometimes I have to drive around several areas of the plant. Lots of in'n'out getting readings, so it's best not to run the a/c in the truck. Lately, the shock of going from 95 @ 70%, to 70 @ 40% would be brutal, so I slug the water down and leave the windows open. No good way to deal with it, I guess...

The most uncomfortable place on earth is a portajohn in Kuwait during the summer. The second most uncomfortable place is the Deep South during the summer.

when I used to work in the theatre at Harrah's Atlantic City, I used to come down with pnumonia in the summer. The theatre was kept at 50 to 60 degrees.. while it was 90+ outside. Had to wear a sweatshirt indoors to stay warm.. and then you would go outside and deal with the shock of all that heat and hummidity

Working late nights in the garage, no fans during engine assembly to keep dust down but still 85 inside, better than near a hunnert in the day.

So, comin' in the house for a break at 2 am I spot cpl kids 60 yds away rummaging inside the neighbors car and confront em... then I realize I left my pistol in the shop, my bad... but never the less they ran off. Call 911 and the neighbor on speed dial, 3 squads on scene in minutes. Descriptions, info, blah, blah.

BS'in w/ the new officer I sez, 'I listen to y'all on the scanner... kinda like comedy hour sometimes' (they do yuk it up big time)... but I was interrupted by a radio call before I could finish my sentence n say what a helluva job they do in this berkeleyin' E36 M3 hole of a town... hell, I wouldn't wanna do that job, not here.

Then, the neighbor was concerned she might get in trouble w/ her agency for leaving her state owned car unlocked, police report, blah, blah.

So, I broke my cardinal gun rule, prolly pissed off the new officer and maybe got the neighbor lady in hot water. I prolly shoulda minded my own biz....... naw.

... at least the cam is installed

I just got back from Elkhart Lake WI (Road America) Man was it nasty hot & humid! It was a relief to get back to Florida......seriously!

The hottest / nastiest weather I've dealt with in the last few years has been up in WI. Beautiful country, great people, a wonderful racetrack, but boy the weather can get brutal!

At least they have nice Winters!

Heat index of 112 today.

+∞ on the people with AC sucking.

944 with black leather is HOT this time of year. They design these stupid cars so they slip through the air, and they did a damn fine job. Even with the widows and sunroof open there is very little airflow. Good thing my commute is only 15 minutes.

worst I ever did with heat was a fiat spider. Black Vinyl seats. I left the top down on a 90+ degree day and went into class (college) and when I got out, just jumped in without thinking. Black vinyl that had been soaking in direct sun for 3 hours and bare skin (wearing shorts) allowed me the brief thought of.. "this is going to hurt" as my butt hit the seats

How do you guys dry out your race suits in the heat? I am racing in WV on Saturday/Sunday and the temps are supposed to be 100 (realfeel 109) and humid. I usually wring it out and hang it over a box fan but I expect to be sweating profusely from practice all the way thru the feature.

I think "deep in a jungle during the summer" and/or "in a swampy area during the summer" should be in the top 3.

"Alright men, the plan is to hide and wait for the other team to die of humidity" - Opposing team leader, game of paintball in a swampy playing area.

Place a large hoop--wood is good, and available at better craft stores--in the chest area, zip up suit to hoop, place smaller hoops ankles, place in front of that box fan to blow through the suit. The arms, you're kinda on your own, there. Multiple changes of fireproof underwear help, too. It may not dry out the suit completely, but, it'll certainly be more effective than the draping you're doing now. Practice at home before doing this at the track. It's what I did at Riverside, CA in the summer. Triple layer suit, nomex underwear in 100 heat. Thankfully it was open wheel racing.
