You are definitely doing the right things. Along with the eave extensions, you might want to consider guttering with extended drains to get as much water as possible away from the house as quickly as possible.

Or, if it was upside down, you would end up with ʞǝʌʎʇ, which is obviously inferior because it makes your neck hurt.
