The Sonic of Awfulness has a steering wheel that looks like someone locked a German Shepherd in the car for a few hours. Man, whoever owned this thing first must have hated it.
Is there a decent wrap (not a slip-on) that a ham-fisted guy like me can put on and hot have it look horrid? And work well, too!
Wheelskins or find a good OE leather wheel from the JY.
Dude, steering wheels for your car are stupid cheap on ebay. Just get another OEM one that's not been through the ringer.

I bought that eBay wrap and followed that video guide as I liked that stitching pattern the most. I only had it for 1 year and 6k miles; the eBay pleather didn't fade or wear in that amount of time and I really enjoyed the extra cushioning and steering wheel thickness. Best sub-$10 mod I've ever done.
I'm a big fan of Wheel Skins myself; put one on both my current DD and the one before that. I found it pretty easy to install, but it appears some people find it a bit harder. End result does not quite look like it left the factory that way... but it's pretty close.
Superskin Steering wheel cover
I've had one of these on my Sploder for like 10 years and it shows no wear. They're leather, lace on fairly easily, and are under $20. I like the wheelskins versions, but I'm not paying $60 for a cover since it's going in my truck.
Honestly, though, if a replacement WHEEL is $25 on ebay like above, do you really want to recover one?
I've done a couple wheels with the Superskins ultraclyde linked. Takes some time and patience, but the end result is pretty damn nice.
But, yeah, if you can get a good replacement wheel for 25 bucks, hell, do that!
Had good luck w/ Wheelskins.
Another recommendation for Wheelskins. I've installed a half dozen over the years. Time consuming install but I've never had one fall apart or fade after years of use.

A flat bottom Alcantara ZL1 Camaro wheel is surprisingly cheap also. Yes it is a direct swap.
