Watching Tampa news right now, and they have a dude reporting from the eye.
That happened to us when Gloria hit Long Island. I spent the storm down the street at a friend’s house. When the eye passed us–or, we assumed it was the eye as we didn’t have radar, internet, etc.–we walked back to my house. It was so quiet and peaceful.
And then it started all over again.
Good luck to all tonight. Thinking about you guys.

Landfall in Siesta Key as a Cat 3. Hopefully Milton weakens further.
Super wet and windy in Dunedin. Gusting over 50mph. Power still on. Ignoring all the storm coverage and watching season 5 of Love Island UK. Don't judge.
Edit: Lost power at 9:01 ☹️

Do what you gotta do. :)
Glad you’re still on the grid. Sounds like Tampa and St. Pete are getting lucky regarding surge.

I'm catching up on the SCCA Runoffs

Power is flickering for me, looking at my neighborhood facebook page, some people in other streets have lost power. 10 miles north of the USF area, over on the Pasco side of Lutz.

It's finally windy here in Longwood. I forgot I had a waterproof RC car so I went puddle bashing earlier when it was light out. I put video up on my FB page and https://www.reddit.com/r/TRX4M/s/i7CRr3y93R
I am sufficiently annoyed at the tv. Tom terry is a better meteorologist but I am extremely turned off by the commercials. At least wesh2 is commercial free.

Watching windy.com, too.
Looks like our gusts in Ormond Beach are peaking for today at 51 knots. Then back up to 54 knots around 8:00 a.m. and then up to high 50s around 5:00 p.m. In between those highs, should have wind in the 20s.
Of course, it all might change.

We had a tornado come through our neighborhood here in Jupiter earlier today. We watched it and wife got video. As of now things are just blustery. Glad this thing weakened but it does make me fearful that it will further encourage people to not take these seriously. Very thankful it didn't land as a 5.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
I had a horse in the first race at Garden State Park the night Gloria sideswiped NJ on the way north.
Harness racing never cancels due to weather conditions, but the first race was the last one that night.
The paddock was a giant metal building. The rain was so loud that shouting as loud as I could, I couldn't get people standing in the doorway to move so I could take my horse back to the barn.
Hey, it’s only a Cat 2 now.

That guy spent real money to do that. Custom straps, concrete footers, the whole bit. Only change I would make is I think his anchor points are too far away from the base, and he'd get a much stronger tie down if he was closer to the slab.

Edit: apparently it was a staging area for linemen and other emergency services. Not sure if they got moved beforehand?

I saw 102mph listed at Albert Whitted AP downtown St Pete, that is about 20 blocks away from the Trop.
In reply to Mr_Asa :
According to Tampa’s ABC affiliate, the crews that had been staging at Tropicana Field had already been moved to another location and no injuries reported.
