'Cuz my beer ain't cold enough. I ain't a Limey, I like mine cold.
I have a GE side by side fridge that's about maybe ten years old, last night it did something really stupid: the fridge side quit cooling. There's a 'blend door' between the freezer and fridge sides with a stepper motor etc real similar to a car A/C setup. The blend door would not open to send cool air to the fridge side, the freezer worked fine. Killing the power and resetting everything did no good, what finally worked was to take the cover off the thermocouple and dunk it in a glass of hot tap water for about 15 seconds. Then the blend door popped open and the fridge side satrted cooling again.
So how do you troubleshoot these damn things?
Goofy Electronics, like most consumer grade appliance makers, most likely do not sell parts. So enjoy reverse engineering your fridge to make COTS parts work.

C- cant tell you the repair sequence for yours, but I have ordered parts for our Frigidare from Amazon. We have a fan that goes bad every few years or so, so after I watched the repairman fix it the first time, I fixed it myself the next time and have another part on hand for a few years from now :). Because you know it's going to do it again. Good thing we had the beer fridge to keep everything cold until the part arrived. That's why I also keep the backup part on hand.
Thermocouples fail sometimes. Is it an old-school copper tube, or is it an electronic sensor?
Best thing to do would be to test it. If its a copper mechanical sensor, then there would be a physical switch to signal the board to operate the stepper. If its electronic, the only thing I can suggest is to test its resistance at a known temperature.
Most of those electronic sensors fall into one of three resistance ranges.
Have you tried a google for something like "GE [model number] diagnosis"? Might turn up a bunch of stuff.

I googled troubleshooting info for my fridge when the use make quit working, there is a ton of info out there on various forums. You can probably find what the specs should be on there.
I Googled my model, there's a metric E36 M3 ton of stuff on an inoperative water dispenser (which mine has) but nothing on the type of problem mine is showing now.
I don't think it's the olde skool copper tube type thermocouple, the only way to know for sure is to destroy it and that's not a real good idea. The damn thing has worked great for two days now, i guess i will wait and see.
Oh, and thank dog I have the beer fridge...
