I’m a Process Engineer and I greatly admire the sophistication with which Disney parks are managed.

Had you stayed on the Monorail a moment longer, I’m sure you would’ve noticed Snow White quickly yet gracefully arriving with a neatly folded pad of embossed bathroom tissue ready to wipe clean the offending patron.

Me too. We went once, for a weekend, that was pretty much all expenses paid thanks to DD#1 having won a national contest with the finals in Disneyworld. I still didn't think it was worth the money. Guess I just never caught that bug.

I went once with my brother about 1971 and it wasn't too bad. Not too crowded and prices were too bad. This was back when there was an E ticket ride etc.

Then I went back with the wife and kids about 25 years later and felt I I needed to take out a second mortgage on the house to afford the trip. The crowds were horrendous and it was hotter than Hades.

The wife is now talking about us taking the grands.

We booked our trip for September. I have a question...

Meal plan: Worth it?

Don't know there's a right answer to that one. Depends on what your needs/desires are.

Like I mentioned before, we rented a townhouse, so we have a full kitchen. We plan to pack a lot of our meals, so it wouldn't make any sense to get the meal plan. But if you're going to eat all your meals in the park, probably worth it.

Since we're going to be there for 14 days, and only have a 10 day pass, we'll definitely have to do other things. Probably take a day trip to Daytona Beach. Now that they're older and can all really understand what's going on, I'm sure they'll be even more hooked.

Disagree. Both of my teenagers would much rather go to Legoland than Disney. Been to LL Windsor and San Diego. Denmark is next, when we get time and money.

Klayfish, come on down to see the sites in Polk County. Legoland is the major attraction, but if our schedules mesh you may as well swing by the house (it is only two traffic lights away) and look at the trash pile --> datsun conversion that is happening. You could also look up Aeromoto....he's not too far from here, either.

BTW, if legoland is not your speed, Fantasy of Flight is pretty cool

Interesting. My kids aren't teens yet (thank heaven!). When we go in June, my oldest will be 9, and my twins will be weeks away from turning 6. The boys like Legos, and my daughter has a vague interest in them.

If you do plan on going to legoland, check their schedule in advance....they aren't open every day of the week.

Meal plan is totally worth it if you plan on eating in the parks a lot. Be aware that some meals are 2 sit-down dining credits. Make the most out of them by eating sit-down meals at lunch while they are one credit, ESPECIALLY if it's still a character meal at lunch.

If you want more info, allears.net is probably a better resource than the Disney websites.

If you end up with days to burn off, or you want more of a guided tour through some of the BS, I don't mind showing you, or anyone, around the parks. I know a lot of the guys here have trouble finding guy stuff to do, so having another guy there can be helpful, if for nothing else than to tell each other dirty jokes about the cast members and what they want to do to Merida.

Unfortunately, that is a wig. The wife doesn't know and "friends of Merida" yet. Yet.
