Every morning I wake up 5 to 20 minutes before my alarm goes off, I hate it only because I want to continue to sleep.

This has gotten increasingly worse over the last year or so.

You are probably young, still.

It will get worse.

Just wait until you find yourself going to sleep at 8:30pm.

I was up at 5:06 this AM for no reason. My alarm was set for 7:15. When my alarm went off I had already run 5 miles, showered, and was having coffee - reading the paper. It seems to happen more often these days.

It's 9:30PM now and I am dog tired... can't sleep. Mr. Bourbon is going to come to the rescue if I see 11.

Haha, You just can't imagine how bad it gets.

I haven't had an alarm clock wake me up in years. I still set one most of the time, but I wake up long before it goes off.

That's 5 to 20 minutes you can spend every morning doing something else.

Problem?

I used to do that. for some reason I don't anymore. Now my external alarm clock (2 year old dog) wakes me up at the same time everyday.

My favorite time clock side show is traveling westward from Chicago for work as I normally get up around 6:15am.

So the first morning in California I usually wake up at 4:15am thinking about how it is already 6:15am in Chicago.

I have gotten to that age that I cannot sleep in any more either!

I yell at the girlfriend when she calls to wake me up one minute early.

Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier. Done.

I used to have the problem of pushing the snooze endlessly, but now I am luck if I can sleep past 5:30.

I wouldn't mind having that problem. The dead sleep like me.

I set my alarm about 20 mins before I actually have to get up, anyway. It's impossible to just spring out of bed on cue, but two rounds of the 'snooze' button provides some acclimatization to the notion of waking up.

The older I get, the less I sleep. I'm usually up at 5:00 now. It's amazing how much time there is in the day when one gets up so early.

It's 7am here, and I've been at work for two hours. I'm usually up about 4:30 everyday.

Allows me to miss traffic on the congested/construction riddled commute.

I wake up and look at the clock (now that my eyes have been fixed) and it is later than 0345 I get up and have b'fst. I have a circadian rhythm that is based on a 23.5 hour day. I want to go to bed earlier every night and get up earlier every morning. Today it was 0300. This has been going on forever. I reset the clock on Friday and Saturday by staying up to 10 or 11.

This, too. I am generally at work by 6:30 AM. It's amazing how frustrated I get by "traffic" if I leave after my normal time (even if "traffic" in this case is only a few more cars).

It's nice to have the option of flexible time around one's work to allow for this.

^Yeah, once construction is finished in ~2 years, I'll probably try to go back to a more reasonably 6-4 or 6:30-4:30 schedule.

But like was mentioned earlier, it's amazing how much stuff I get done on the weekends now. I'm up so early, there is nothing to go do, so might as well get something done.

Last saturday I had two loads of laundry, dishes done, house picked up and vacuumed all before 8am.

I wish I had this problem. For the last decade I have started work at 6AM. That means up at 5 and every morning it is an agonizing, herculean task to get my ass out of bed in time. On weekends if I don't set an alarm I will find myself sleeping til almost noon.

I would think I my body would get used to it but it just doesn't.

I just don't sleep.

Really. I'm lucky to get 4 hours in a night. Every day for the last 5 years. About once every 6 weeks i crash hard and sleep for almost an entire weekend.

Probably not healthy.

My main issue is that I don't get very good sleep and then I can't wake up. It seems like it takes me an hour to wake up.

Trade you, I have trouble being tired before 11 no matter what time I get up.

Then waking up at 545 is a pain.

This. It's been that way for me since my daughter was born in '05. My work schedule does not help.
