The ultimate small family car ever made, the Kia Rondo, is now only available in Canada. And today, I saw a Chevy Orlando on the highway. This is a Chevy version of the Rondo, available with a manual trans, but only sold in Canada. Why doesn't the US get these practical vehicles?
Canada is a much more sensible, practical stay out of trouble country, so those are the cars we get.
Sorry about Bieber. He is an anomaly. Our stars are usually the more laid back sensible kind as well, like Sarah McLachlan and Neil Young.
I hear they need more Canadian porn actors so you could get a job up there.
That's pretty attractive to me, but then I own a Rondo and a Soul, so.....
The actual answer to the original question is : Crash and emission standards.
I'm jealous of Mexicans.

I'm a ginger. I'm not allowed to buy a Soul.
That's a flattering picture of an Orlando. Those are exceptionally ugly, even by crossover/minivan/whatever that is standards.

They look more like this in real life:
Pretty, they are not.
Also, Pinchvalve, don't feel bad about not getting the Rondo or the Orlando in the state. I could have purchased them, but I still chose a Mazda5...But we can get the manual trans in the top model over here.

It could be worse. It could be a what car thread.
I just watched top gears econobox challenge. Clarkson called his a "determined little sperm"
I'm with ya! You can't tell me there wasn't a market for one of these in the states:
Or the Lada Niva!
I wonder if it's too soon to start pestering the wife about selling the Impala to import a Hilux...

I am pretty sure there is a maroon one of those running around my home town, I have tried to catch it parked but no luck yet.

I always wanted a Lada Niva.. but then, I like old Fiats
I'm kind of kicking myself in the butt for not buying a Niva while I lived in Hungary, those things were a dime a dozen!

I drove an Orlando from Toronto to Michigan, and thought it was kind of a turd. Borrrrring.
You'd have to name it Tony.
It needs a Mickey head antenna topper.
I worked for a forestry company that bought a Lada Niva when they first came to Canada in.....1986 or so. It had a hand crank and an Interstate battery but other than that I just remember it being the junkiest piece of junky junk ever assembled. It was parted out at about 2 years old although I don't remember what part finally consigned it to the trash heap.
I thought this was going to be a healthcare thread.
I was at the auto show today. I looked and looked for a Rondo, but apparently it was embarrassed to be seen. I did see a really nice 2015 Fit. So the Fit wins.

And you'd have to get up early to drive it.
