Idea for new forum ranking system

You're right. I'm hands off, because my working ovaries disqualify me from moderating what is clearly an august group of great thinkers. Thread's unlocked, fill it full of your drivel. Fill them all. I'm sure the forum will be better for it.

Its just silly. I think you are being a prick right now, maybe you should be banned? I thought GPS post was light hearted. First rule is to be able to laugh at yourself. Its clear he wasn't being serious, do you need someone to explicitly explain to you why his post wasn't crass and imbecilic?

I glanced through that "clock" thread.....but the Exxon thread made my head hurt. It was one of those polarizing topics that was indeed specifically warned against(most should know my viewpoint there, no need to post it again)

I'm no white knight. I just like this place and would rather it NOT require a long list of excessively specific rules that all boil down to "Don't be a dickhead" anyway.

Maybe a 3 strike system, strike 1 = week ban, strike 2 = month, strike 3 you're out forever?

Great, now I will live with the permanent fear of being perma-banned, despite the fact that I don't chime in on stuff like that.

I like the down-vote system. Be a shiny happy person, get down-voted by your peers. Monthly looser gets a 3 strike warning like described above.

The down vote systems seems simple and rids Margie, or any mods, from having to police us.

Yeah, I like it. It's a little "Lord of the Flies," and I have no doubt that it has potential to be abused by disgruntled fellow members, but this way it removes the possibility that an impartial mod might get her period and go all nuts.
