The father of British blues has died at 90 follwing an illness.  Dude was still touring well into his 80s.

Thank you, Mr. Mayall.

A lot of fantastic musicians moved through his bands, including Clapton (not a fan. personally) and Peter Green.  He's the one responsible for mentoring Mick Taylor and recommending him to the Stones as Brian Jones's replacement.  A legend.

I still remember buying Turning Point in 1969, expecting Blues Breakers music. Absolutely blown away! It and USA Union are still part of my listening stream.

In reply to lateapexer :

Despite not liking Clapton, the Bluesbreakers were a seminal band.  But there are a whole bunch of Mayall albums from after he moved to the Laurel Canyon area in '69 that are just full of great music.
