Apparently it's supposed to be something like -15F for a high on monday- the governor has cancelled school in advance of this weather. It's been a wicked cold winter all the way around.

It's cold, but the metro bus brought me to work OK.

It is one downside to having cars that are all older than 10 and all north of 120k. If you slack off the routine check-ups to... oh, saaaay spend all your spare time rebuilding your race car... or skiing... those jealous old bastards get real spiteful. They lie in wait for the worst possible moment to strike. Gotta keep the pimp hand strong... I'm going to flog the piss out of the wagon as soon as it's fixed.

I wish I could vote that up more than once. I had a pos J body that never did idle quite right and consequently, being a stick, would stall at inopportune times. Eventually I got fed up and started doing a big smoky one wheel peel on the restart, it quit stalling on me so often.
Just swapped my radiator out. I never want to do it in this temperature again.

It was no more than 15 today in PA with blowing winds and snow. I didn't find out the okay to stay home from work until 8:25 this morning from my work email that I don't have access to outside of the office. It all works out since I am leaving for vacation tomorrow for a week in warmer parts of this hemisphere.
12 degrees in North Georgia when I left for work this morning. Apparently, it's Winter.

I just had to check that, I was right 12 months ago it was 105 degrees, they are unusually cold as well
It was 11 today, in my black car, parked in the sun, when I pulled my sunglasses out of the case, they fogged up instantly. Then the whole car frosted up when I pulled it into a shop for an alignment.
It was 75 here in Glendale but with the wind chill, it felt more like 73.

We are warming up here. Coldest we hit was around -10f I believe. It is now hovering around 40 during the day and we still have huge chunks of ice everywhere. Gotta say my old Dodge made some ugly sounds starting at that cold but it started every time and ran without a hitch. Tiffs Tacoma just squealed a lot lol.
I don't know what we do different up here, but a few weeks ago I jumped in my old Chevy 6.0 and it fired right up at -37C. Sorry, not sure what that is in Farenheit, but at 40 they are the same. So it's damn cold. No block heater plugged in either. Our vehicles are all made in 'Murica, (except the Mazda, it's from Japan)but they seem to like Canada better? 
Tonight's forecast has scared the bejezus out of this area, the lines at the supermarkets are epic.

On the plus side I am driving to Toledo before 7am.

Hey, Ultra, have you seen the forecasted temps for Monday and Tuesday? You and the rest of the middle GA folks are gonna be hurtin'.
I finally got the wagon moving - the PS pump was as frozen as my azz. Cut the belt and drove it to my old man's garage where all the bays are not filled with race cars, parts and debris. You can get pretty far w/o a water pump in 0F weather.
Spent the day wrenching... it's an easy swap for a pump alone but there is some deferred maintenance to catch up on (wifey won't stop driving long enough for me to do anything until something breaks).
I just ordered a mother-lode of crap. Two biggies and an odd list of o-rings, gaskets, hoses, crush washers, a few end links, filters and fluids. The tab for resetting the next 120k miles? $897.28. Seems pricey but there is a brand spankin' new PS pump, radiator and 3+ gallons of expensive synthetic goo in there. All in all... not too bad for a "major" service with a repair too.
Beats a new car payment. Frostbite heals, right?

Yeah, supermarkets are absolutely CLEARED out. At work(Lowe's) we're completely out of most of the winter stuff(shovels, salt, pipe insulation, covers, heat tape, etc).
We are getting dumped on, my guesstimate is we have 10" on the ground already

One hour north and one hour east of you; here it is 34 degrees with an icy slush coming down on top of the few inches of snow gotten days before.
Couple more inches since I posted, US127 is shut down

"Major winter storm continues to hit the area. Snowfall has ranged from 6 inches in Van Wert to a foot over just west of Ft Wayne. This is in addition to the 5 inches we received several days ago so Van Wert has 11 inches on the ground. Snow should continue through 11:00pm with 4 additional inches expected in Van Wert. Winds will increase tonight 25 to 35mph creating serious blowing & drifting of snow. Luckily it is a wet snow so won't blow as bad had it been a powdery snow. Temperatures will begin dropping all night to minus -9 by morning and continue to drop all day to minus -20 tomorrow night. Winds on Monday of 20 to 35mph will create additional blowing & drifting and will give us windchills of minus -35 to minus -45 through Tuesday morning. These temperatures the next several days will be life threatening. Do not get caught outside or stranded in a vehicle. Stay inside if you do not have to go out."
