It's truly unbelievable. Every once in a while, one of the sellers finds out, and hilarity ensues.
Or taking pictures at the Grocery store or any store for that matter for background. I’ve been seeing a lot of that lately.

Probably didn't want to give their home address away with the photo.

1. Spend 10 minutes with a bottle of armor all - it gives the perception the car is well maintained.
I have to disagree with this one. Nothing says 'the interior of my car sucks donkey balls soo bad so I tried to cover it up best I can' like Armor All. That stuff is the devil and should be banned by the Geneva Convention.
Here’s one. $500 for a 05 Saturn Vue. Wrecked obviously but how bad....not clue. This is the only picture he provided but still? WTF

But look how well maintained these tires are!
Runs great needs transmission.
"i know what i have" is always annoying.....a guy had a Brat up for sale with the standard 1/3rd eaten away by rust shape most are in. "turbo models can go for over 25k" was mentioned....even though this was not a turbo model and ive never seen a brat go for 25k. It also apparently needed the engine rebuild finished "only needs new heads, a cam, a crank and some rings".....
7k was the price
Usual math, right? "Similar" but completely restored car went at some Scottsdale auction for $10k, so mine that needs about $30ks worth of work, cylinder heads, a crank and some rings absolutely must be worth $9500.

Exactly
There was a 240z that sat for literally 10 years, the lady finally put it up for sale with a Best Offer price on it.
I go look at it......some one had literally rolled black paint on it over the old paint, rust everywhere but not bad rust, destroyed interior and an engine that smoked. Asked here what she wanted out of it..
"I know what i have and these are collectable. I want at least twice what i got it for"
" what did you get it for?"
"well...my uncle gave it to me but he bought it brand new for $4000!"
" ill give you 3 times $0 then?"
She was not amused, after awhile i finally told here that it was kind of a basketcase and it was worth in 1k range, and i had $900 cash for her. She was very offended by this figure but it literally wasnt worth more.
It sat for sale for 3 years, starting at $8k and dropping every other month. Last price i saw on it was 1k or best offer and i heard it sold for $700 lol

I've seen at least two trucks posted lately that were running before the owner disassembled some amount of the fuel system and then stopped, tank out of the truck.
I mean, the reality is easy to read as long as you keep your cynical (and in this case probably accurate) hat on, but it's bonus annoying that they always lay it out like the truck's only problem is the need to be reassembled. Come on, people. You're either talking to people who know you're full of it, or people you're just taking advantage of.

Yeah but in a full parking lot next to the cart return? That’s a little distracting. How hard is it to find a local park or secluded corner of a store parking lot?
This one has been for sale in this exact format for over a year.

I promise, I am going to make it through every single page of this thread. I’m not kidding. Im lmao right now on page one. And the best part is it’s soooooo truuuuuueeeee
I used to get offended when sellers listed their "rules" for doing business with them. Like "No lowballers!", "No spammers!", "Serious buyers only!", "If it's listed it's still for sale!"
"No Lowballers" is just ridiculous. "lowballers" are doing you a favor by offering before they've even looked at it in person. I KNOW I'm done talking with someone like that. The polite way to say "no lowballers" is to say, "the price is firm."
"No Spammers!" is just sellers being absolute morons. Who exactly do you think you're reaching with this statement? And you're pissing off the real people while you're at it.
"Serious buyers only!" really makes me want to email and say, "I know you said 'Serious offers only!' but I can make a whimsical offer if you get to the point where you would consider one."
I don't like seeing "if the ad is up, it's still for sale!" but I do totally understand where this one is coming from. Buyers, here's a tip: Don't ever ask "you still got it?" If you get a response, the seller started with a disappointed sigh, and then composed his/her response to you.
And "I don't need help selling it!" Really...has that been a thing recently? I haven't had anyone offer to "help sell" something I had listed for well over a decade.
I'm really starting to feel old while trying to buy and sell stuff on the internet. I like sentences and whole words.
In reply to ClemSparks :
It’s still a thing. I got several calls on the Vette(even after it sold) from a TX number saying “Our buyers are looking for a car like yours...”
Ah...Maybe I don't get that response because I don't put phone numbers in my ads anymore. Email first for me.
In reply to ClemSparks :
It seems around here most people are going (back?) to phone #s. I presume it’s perceived as less scammy if they can call/text you directly?

Yes, unfortunately, it has. Not sure if this is any effective than "No spammers", but I got several emails advertising for some sort of listing service. I should have replied with, "If your service is so good, why don't you buy the car and use your selling system to sell it yourself?"
