The Red Bull Global Rallycross visited our fine city this weekend, and I was there yesterday for the final event. Before heading home--and this was after the final race, awards, etc.--I figured I'd make one last pass through the paddock. Most of the cars were in the haulers, and teams were finishing clean-up.
This is just part of the line waiting for Ken Block. What you can't see if how it then follows the fence for a while. And the line kept growing.

He does his fans well. He happily signed autographs, chatted with fans, and posed for photos. It was very much a Richard Petty moment. Color me impressed.
I know several people who have had very very positive interactions with Mr. Block.

People joke about crashing all the time. I'd still like a photo and autograph sometime.
What you have there, is a smart man who knows where his paycheck comes from. Probably a over all nice guy as well, because that's hard to fake on a hot, tiring, day.
People like to bag on a guy doing what he loves.
Seems like a nice guy.
I'd have probably waited in line, too.

He seems like a decent guy. Last year at the Oregon trail rally he finished a run with a missing wheel, made it back to the paddock, picked up his 4 year old and went to greet fans.

He had some equally impressive driving for the day. That was a fun event!

You were at Daytona? What did you think of the event? Fun? Would you come back? Word on the street says the track wants to host them again.

I was passed by some Ford Red Bull semis (and a handful of other race support vehicles) earlier today on I-10 between Tallahassee and Pensacola.
I was wondering what they were coming from.

I was there and I had a blast! The $35 price tag was reasonable and the racing was intense. I'll be back for as many years as they host it in Daytona.

When we flew out to New Hampshire, he was swamped. Still got a chance to briefly ask if he was going to be at pfr as he had planned (this was 2012) and told him I was going to beat him (jokingly of course, unless he crashed, then technically I would have) ;)
He's just a dude being a dude. Most people that build their wealth themselves are like that it seems, especially if they built it from passion. :)
Did any of you guys see his videos?

Always good to hear when people are not shiny happy people. I still don't like the way he wears his hats, but my hat is off to him for what he has accomplished. He is living the dream is he not?
