EDIT: For anyone who stumbles across this thread, you may want to know that I ended up NOT going this way. Instead of cutting splines in the steering shaft to match the datsun column, I had a local shop (Stamey's Auto Parts in Winter Haven) cut the splined end off the column, turn a bushing to hold the shaft into the column, and weld it all together. It is well made, as you would expect for any autoparts establishment that has their own machine shop on site.

Anybody know a good central FL shop that resplines axles? I need a one end of a steering shaft cut to length, turned down and splined to fit a datsun 910 steering column. (The other end of the shaft already has the 3/4" DD end needed to fit the dodge steering rack I'm using)

The guy that's been in Tampa forever, always sets up at Webster near the south gate, used to make quick-changes, Franklin Welding I think...?

does he have the equipment to cut splines? I need the splines cut onto the end, not a new end welded on.....

Gary's Driveline does a lot of GRM's axle work. They're near the office.

No idea, but I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

[BTW, this is the only place I know of where noboby even bats an eyelash when you announce that you need help hooking a datsun steering column to a dodge rack and pinion.]

I just talked to somebody from Gary's (didn't get his name) and he said that they can't do it. He recommended that I try these guys.
