SWMBO booked a 5 day cruise from New Jersey to Bermuda this October. The ship will be docked in Bermuda for a day and a half. I've never been there before. Any recommendations?

I think they're famous for their triangles; supposedly all of the best orchestras in the world get their triangles from their:
You can basically get anywhere on the island with a bus pass.

Since it's GRM, see if the Karting club is up to anything that weekend:

While I was there, I took one photo:
The giant toads are numerous, freaky, and a serious hazard if you decide to ride around the island on a scooter.
Our FAVORITE place in the Carribean. I highly recommend renting a scooter for 2 days and see the island. Also look up Glass Beach. Not a big touristy spot but it's amazeballs. If you're docking on King's Warf, its just past the first bridge on the right heading south.
That was at Ft St Catherines.
Oh, and definitely be topside when the ship leaves..... you'll be amazed at the closeness of the reefs to the ship on your way out.
Which cruise line are you using? I'm guessing Royal Carib? They are our faves. Used them for 5 or 6 cruises to date.
Its on Royal Caribbean. Its a six day from New Jersey. Two days down, two days docked in Bermuda, two days back.
They have to pay me to go on those things. Have phun, though.
I remember one time when we were going through the triangle. Out of nowhere this freak storm hits. Can't see a damn thing. The captain calls us (me and Dr.Linda, who was riding on the ship as "librarian,") up to the bridge. The barometer was oscillating at like, I dunno, 10Hz? Maybe more. Needle moving maybe an inch in the arc, and you could feel it in the air. It was seriously weird. Like I said, couldn't see the bow of the ship, radar was a solid blob of storm. We look out the aft bridge window and there was a fishing trawler that we must have just missed by -><- that much. Had they been a few feet over, they would have been another Bermuda Triangle mystery, as we would never have known we crushed them.
Actually, I think Dr.Linda (pre 'Dr.') got a discharge as "Librarian/OS." That 'OS' is gold.

Same one we took.
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Bermuda. It is absolutely wonderful place. The people were very friendly and the weather was great.
I think some of our highlights were a sunset sail boat cruise around the harbor in Hamilton, dinner at the Fourways Restaurant & Inn (we stayed there but the food was awesome), Crystal and Fantasy caves (they were the inspired the caves in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) and just generally touring around. I have heard there is amazing diving and golfing neither of those are really my thing. Get some Bermuda Fish Chowder and a Rum swizzle. We used the ferries to get around between the towns a lot and you can get a cheap pass for the ferries and bus. IIRC the cruise ships land at Somerset Village which was by far the most tourist of the towns.

Uh, Bermuda is in the Atlantic ocean, not the Caribbean. Bermuda is almost as far north as where I live in NC. I know it sometimes is considered Caribbean despite geography though.

There is also the water taxi/ferry that crosses from Kings Wharf to Spanish Point- which is more of a downtown area.
And while we've not been to the beaches, apparently the pink sand beaches are a major highlight.
BTW, the Anthem of the Seas is pretty darned nice. If you like Queen music, do not miss the musical We Will Rock You. WRT Bob's suggestion of being high up when you leave, see if you can book North Star during departure. Or at least just before it. You will see a nice high view of Bermuda. And do give IFly a try- it's the longest 60 seconds you will have- so much fun.
(we sail the Anthem again in November)
They are quite British, they wear shorts with a blazer, and This Old House did a project there 25 or 30 years ago.
That's it. All I got.
In reply to T.J. :
Right, Bermuda is the same latitude as Charleston SC. Even the Bahamas are in the Atlantic. Jamaica is in the Caribbean.

I don't understand this at all.. Can you explain the joke, please?

Ordinary Seaman, I think. Something to do with the Merchant Marines.
In reply to WonkoTheSane :
OS = Ordinary Seaman. It’s a rating like a job qualification I believe. So, not a joke.
Edit: what mtn said while I was typing.
Yeah, Ordinary Seaman. To get papers to allow you to sail, say as an Ordinary, you need (among other stuff) either a letter from a shipping company or a union saying they are going to hire you as an Ordinary, or a discharge as an Ordinary. Getting a letter from a shipping company or union is quite difficult. She has a Z card as "Librarian," but with that discharge, she could technically get a Z card as Ordinary. Librarian isn't really a rating. They just made it up so she could get a Z card and be on the ship with me. Ordinary is a real job, and for an entry level position, paid quite well. Around 3 thousand a month in 1985 dollars. Triple that for today's dollars.
I learned in the late 80's that the air base I applied for a Tool Makers' job was really a swanky spot for Congressmen and their "secretaries" to fly into.
Damn, I was sincere too.
