Those boots look pretty good. I'll bet if I'd been wearing decent ones on the turns for all these years, I wouldn't be having these foot problems in the first place. Thanks for the tip.
Try them, but not all feet are the same and every manufacturer uses a different last to form the shoe. You need to find a manufacturer that uses a last that is close to your foot. Merrell works for me, but might not work for you. At the end of a long day where you have been on your feet a lot, go try on shoes. You will know when you find a last and shoe that fits your feet. It's like night and day. For tennis shoes I wear Avias with the cantilevered soles. Very comfortable, but they don't hold up like the Merrells do.
Cheap shoes, an extra 50 pounds and standing on ladders for hours at a time is what did mine in. Good shoes are worth their weight in gold if you are on your feet a lot.
The Santa Cruz. Has a very Parrothead vibe to it.
I'm also considering the non-slip wellies for work, but spending $65 is hard to swallow when I get free non-slips from work.

Now you have my attention. Mine's not very bad yet, do you think it would help to wear those things in the house, but use "regular" shoes elsewhere? (although I think if I just wore black ones, most people wouldn't even notice)
I'm not a podiatrist. All I can say is that I don't get cortisone shots into the bottom of my feet anymore, it wasn't instant improvement, it took months before I was sure things were really getting better.
This is the truth. It will take months for it to go away completely. I thought I was doing great, then I pushed a car up on a trailer and had to start over again. Avoid anything that puts extra strain on the tendon that runs from the heel to just behind the toes. Pushing things, running, standing on tip toes, all of these will make it worse. You won't notice it at the time, but wait till you wake up in the morning. The bathroom trip will make you cry.
Another thing that helps a lot. Take a water bottle, freeze it, put it on the floor and roll your foot back and forth on it. The ice will do wonders for the swelling and pain the next day.
I got a pair of Sanuks on sale at Ron John and I love them. Wear them everywhere even in winter time.
Wow, never expected such... uh, colorful responses . Looks like I'll be Crockin' after all... or whatever it's called. My foot problems started about 9 months ago w/ a painful heel spur, got 'the shot' and later prescription orthotic insoles to support my arches. Ditched the cheap shoe truck boots for Wolverine Dura-shocks which helped a ton. I always had good feet until I started working in a plant w/ all concrete floors.
Doc compared foot bottoms to tire treads, when your feet get worn you can't retread 'em so ya better take care of the ones ya got.
I want to try the non croc crocs.

These Crocs have a little more support than regular crocs. To me, they feel a little firmer, which I needed.
I had been dealing with plantar fasciitis for over a decade*. While crocs didn't cure it, they certainly helped relieve a little of the pain. Going barefoot around the house was impossible. I have "house" crocs and outside crocs.
*Two months ago, I had endoscopic plantar fasciotomy. So far, the excruciating, every waking moment, pain... is gone. Completely. I mean, when I came to in the recovery room, I could tell the procedure worked. I was off work for a month and I'm still in recovery mode, and have days that my foot gets achy, but the searing pain isn't part of it.
I had been getting three cortizone shots per year, that would sometimes work. I went through physical therapy. Orthotics. Night splint. My podiatrist tried all the conventional methods, with the EPF as the last resort.
I still wear my crocs, though.
Only a certain kind of people wear crocs. They are the same kinda people that tuck in their T-shirts.
berkeley, I'd wear pink fuzzy slippers if it made my feet feel any better, ain't too proud for dat
... and w/ steel toes ftw
I've tried them and can't wear them.
1) they are hard. I thought they'd feel soft & cushy but they feel almost like they are a hard plastic or wooden clogs.
2) the pattern molded into the foot surface hurts my feet. I need a smooth surface.

You can kick em off easy and barefoot
My uncle use to wear crocs all the time until he did a face plant on the dock because of them. Funniest thing it the world seeing a 75yo man with bright yellow crocs on.
He's not kidding about the face plant. Toyman's mom and I cleaned up his nose, his shins, his toes....blood everywhere. I really thought he had broken his nose.
I worked in daycare for years. Parents LOVE crocks. I refused to allow any child in my room to wear them. I watched child after child trip, fall and face plant because of those things. I dislike them immensely.
They may work quite well for the issue. However, I found that going to a sports shoe store that can map your feet and how you walk....they will suggest shoes based on this. I went with their suggestion and WOW the difference was immense. Sometimes you get what you pay for!

Finally the voice of reason! Yes, Crocs are killers. You cannot trust them, I will not permit my kids to wear them.
