As an adult.
With no children.
At Christmas...
Long story short, my wife and I have nothing keeping us at home over the holidays this year. I've never been to Disneyland, she has.
We decided that for a christmas present for the both of us, we would go to Disneyland.
Flights are booked, hotel is booked.
Any tips, tricks, etc for surviving Disneyland?
I suspect you are talking about the California park.
I have not been but my brother has (California Resident, goes several times a year), he has told me that you can take your time. Disneyland Park itself is not that big. California Adventure is actually a little bigger, but if you have a couple days planned there, you could ride stuff multiple times and not worry about rushing around.
It could and probably will be a little more chaotic at Christmas, but research what they do at that time, because they have stuff that you won't see the rest of the year.
Actually that sounds like exactly the way to do it. No kids and off season. Throw in mid week park visits and you've hit the trifecta.
Have fun.
Watch "Cars" before your go, then spend as much time in Cars Land as you can. And eat at Flo's - seriously. DANG good food.
The Haunted Mansion has broken down on me every time I have been on it, in all the trips I have ever taken to Disneyland. Cheer loudly if it does.
Though more kid related, Turtle Talk with Crush was most excellent, dude.
If it's just the two of you, it will be fun. Take your time, see what you want to see. When you have kids, you may grow to HATE Disneyland. Actually, it was Disneyland that clued us in to our youngest having Autism - huge sensory overload for the poor boy.
We're there for a week so we're planning on California adventure and Disneyland.
I've seen cars. Lots. Best Disney movie ever.
Whoever thought up the tractors nailed it.
Wife loves Mater.
I have a feeling we're spending a lot of time in Cars Land.
Yes, we're going mid-week.
As a note: There is no down season for Disneyland anymore. It is effectively packed all year round now. I have not been in a while (I have no real interest), but there is also Downtown Disney right next to it. Downtown Disney is essentially an open air mall type place, but it is an easy alternate for dinner / shopping etc.
As far as rides, when I was there, probably the best one for adults was the Tower of Terror (California Adventure). A pretty good ride actually, and I don't really like those sudden drop type rides.
If you want an insane amount of adult roller coasters, head north to Magic Mountain in Valencia. Lots, and lots, and lots of roller coasters.
Hi Trans_Maro,
If you do a Google search on “Disneyland Tips and Tricks”, you’ll find a lot of useful and well organized information on how to get the most out of your trip.
I’m a huge fan of all things Disney, have a great time!
Oh, and queue the grumpy naysayers in 3…2…1…
Had an annual pass last year, will probably get one next year, personal favs;
Dole whip
Soarin' Over California
California Screamin
Toy Story Midway Mania (my favorite!)
Tower of Terror (never gets old)
Cars Land
Apple Freeze (in cars land)
Hollywood Tower of Terror
Cove Bar Lobster Nachos (In CA Adventure)
Indiana Jones
Star Tours
There's a exhibit in Tomorrow land with Iron Man suits and Asimo performance that I enjoyed
And of course, Splash Mountain and Space Mountain
Also, stop by Jolly Holiday Bakery Café on Main Street in Disneyland.
They have the whole place decorated for Xmas, they go all out and main street with the huge tree and the castle all lit up.

Wear comfortable shoes. On the trip out and back, wear support stockings and take an aspirin the day before you travel. I would probably find something else to do on Saturday and Sunday, if I were there over the weekend. There are lockers near the entrances, if your hotel is too far off site. There is a 7/11 not far from the park on S Harbor, walking distance to the park where you can get bottled water and what not for a fraction of what it will cost at Disneyland.
Ramada Main Gate on S Harbor Blvd is where I usually stay. Close and fairly reasonable. Has a fridge in the room and a "continental breakfast" out by the pool. If your reservations are at the Hotel Menage, you should change them.

I believe there is a backstage tour you can take. Takes you under the park and behind the scenes where the Disney characters are people.
We just did California adventure 2 weeks ago. The cars area was pretty cool. Just run to the cars race and get your fast pass. It's one of the best rides. Soaring over California was really cool too.

Was at the CA Disneyland back in the nineties and it was fun. But SoCal has so much more to offer, in my opinion. If you go, you must do dinner at Orange Hill Restaurant (Chapman Ave. East off the 55 Freeway in Orange). It's one of my top five restaurants in the world. (My experience). Have drinks and appetizers with the wife on the patio overlooking most of OC facing west. Words and pictures cannot describe. It is utterly spectacular!
