Which devices have to be plugged in for the car to start??? For instance I was just told one of these devices is the headlight control panel. I am trying to thin out the harness, eliminating as much as possible and right now I have too much unplugged on the interior of the car for it to start. Any help would be Great!

I see your problem. Its that one wire next to the other wires by the dash.
That or its the flux capacitor.
And this is why i do not do electronics work. I feel for ya man, sorry I cannot help
What do you want to start the car for? At that stage, I would remove it all and go with a Painless harness.

i would love to do that if i had the confidence i could pull it off, right now i need to get it running again, i am going to start by pluging in the light switch and all the grounding panels......

Well, my friend, if you don't have the confidence for a Painless system, you have dramatically misplaced confidence in your ability to understand German electronics. I'm a professional technician, 53 years old, have worked on European cars since 1981, and I'd be dead terrified to do what you've already done.
I am sure you also need the cluster to start the car. The battery might not charge otherwise.
