Here's a video recepiie from a guy I like. Skip to the 3 minute mark if you don't want to see the butchering..

According to him, lard or peanut oil... Only.

I don't know about all of them, but our local Publix kicks arse on their fried chicken.   Our church orders it from there for special meals and they never disappoint.

In reply to spitfirebill :

I tried it today on a $4 whim, since I was there anyway for groceries.

1/10, soggy and tough at the same time. Even after a toast in oven here.

Gordon Ramsay cooks fried chicken, don't worry it's SFW. I double batter mine the way he does but he finishes them off in the oven after frying, might try that.

Fried Chicken by The Marylanders

Chik fil a is terrible and lacks flavor. They might as well be a depression era bread line. Efficient, but completely lacking flavor.

Chain wise, Church's, Bojangles, Hip Hop, Popeyes. Add hot sauce, and not that Sriracha crap. Partaking in sativa prior to eating is recommended. The other option is drive to the sketchiest neighborhood in your city, take something with steel wheels and an already missing catalytic converter, and go into a spot and ask for their chicken box, thighs and whole wings only with two pieces of bread (the bread absorbs the moisture, preventing condensation, keeping the chicken crisp. If you save a small piece of skin you can ball it up with the bread and catch catfish with it. Nobody would ever eat catfish from chik fil a... Nor could you catch catfish using anything from chik fil a as bait.

Sorry to hear that since I recommended it.  Please note we order ours to be picked up ata certain time and they cook it for that.  We do get their chicken tenders all the time and they are good, although they have been getting really big.

Interesting. Also sidenote, I can't stand how TV cooks never wash their hands or even really mention it at all.

I have never considered double dipping. I'll try it. He also never mentioned what oil he was using. I also am not a fan of honey on there, but that part I can skip.

I mixed the improvised buttermilk (I used lemon) with yogurt, and left the chicken in it for eight hours. I even did the double dip trick. It was incredible. The best I've ever had, especially with mayo and hot sauce. Thanks!!
