In looking around for DSLR camera deals, I've been checking slickdeals.net. Reading through their forums, almost everyone is getting cash back through live.com. No where however does anyone really explain what the story is. I checked out the site and, while it is Microsoft, it seems kind of sketchy.
Knowing folks here know just about everything, can someone enlighten me?
Thanks!
you search through live.com for something on ebay.
must use buy it now.
must pay immeadiately
must use paypal.
You wait 60 days for your money.
up to $200 per use and $600 per year
don't use a coupon or discount or they'll void it.
I don't like paypal much.. so I stacked some coupons on abes of maine and got my D40 for 386. while I COULD have saved more money with live, I was worried about being pitched a non USA camera from a non-authorized dealer with no warranty.
Ok...that all makes sense.
What is coupon stacking?

I don't get it... you buy something on ebay you searched on through live.com, and live.com... pays you.. for it???
Admittedly...it's still a little confusing to me too. I didn't realize it was ebay-only.
It is not ebay only..
You can buy from a store as well. You just need to use the link from Live.com

coupon stacking is using mulitple deals stacked together
I got the camera with a $50 off coupon. that changed the price from $449 to 399. I had a $15 off of anything over $400 coupon. So I then bought a $2 video tape to put me over $400 then applied the - $15 coupon.
Another example of stacking is finding something on clearance then arguing with the guy behind the counter to allow you to use a 20% off coupon on it.. Sometimes it works.. w00t
I had no problem using a 10% off ebay coupon with a 30% cash back. Got a megasquirt pnp for like $450! I almost thought about selling it & buying another, but that might be playing the system :)
Its a little tricky to get it to work, its like a 60 minute cookie or something. You can use it 12 time, for a max cash back of $1200
I've been plugging it in my BIN auctions - auctions I put a link to a hot deals site that expains the steps to make it work.
There are also some 10% off ebay coupons, and as far as I know they can work with the cash back thing.

have you recieved your money back yet? If so it would be interesting as just about any coupon is voiding the deal for a lot of folks on slickdeals. Live is sneaky and is going back voided stuff after promised.
I would just be careful with coupons.
I wont get any money till the end of Dec(!), but I can see the days counting down til its available I've got $250 "pending", I know a local guy that has over $800 coming...
I've read the forums, the only ones that are getting denied are the obviously bogus ones (new user in the same city as the seller, etc).
I've been using it a lot - Racy fuel pump, replaced our broken microwave tray, etc. As long as I can get the cookie to work (and the feature is still working)...
