24 mixed is excellent.  In a late model 3.5 Sienna I got 17 mixed in LA congestion.

Anybody have experience, good or bad, with the Nissans?

Just to add some info on the Odyssey side:

  • '99-04 are the "bad transmission" years - I'd stay away from these, although some of these are still humming around on their original transmissions.
  • '05-06 was the improved transmission - I still do a 3X drain and fill every 30k just to be safe (currently @145k on our '05)
  • '05 introduced VCM (drops 3cyl @ light load) - our '05 is an EX so we don't have this, it was only on the EX-L and up trim levels.  It complicates things (such as the rear motor mount) and doesn't seem to offer a big benefit.  I'd read up on the Honda forums (odyclub.com is excellent) if you're considering one.
  • '07 introduced the Ridgeline transmission, so in terms of transmission:  01-04<'05-06<'07-up

We've gotten 25+ on the highway, but in-town is much lower (like 15MPG).  They're big and heavy to get moving from a stop, but cruise well on the highway.

The Ody requires timing belt changes every 7 years/105k.  If you're not doing it yourself, this can be an expensive service.

We like ours very much - but when we're looking to replace it, I would consider all the options.
