with your standard ESC's that were not ment for lipo, the only thing you have to do is watch for a loss of power. If you let that lipo pack run all the way down, you just ruin'ed it. the old esc's were not made with a lipo ''kill off'' switch. pretty much this would shut the car/truck/truggy off before you damage the lipo pack.

Yeah, and from what I understand, that Novak low voltage warning doohickey is designed to warn me of just that condition.

Also, I love the old Tamiya kits.

Why on earth am I remotely (no pun intended) tempted by Tamiya stuff? My first "real" R/C car was a Hornet, and the difference when I got an RC-10 was, of course, staggering.

I'm trying not to look at 1/18 or 1/36 stuff. I've only got a tiny backyard, and I don't think there's really anywhere to race around here anymore, so I should really just forget the whole thing.

But still...

I just love electric RC's, probably owned 14 RC's in total, only 2 nitro just made the total 15 building up my Yokomo E30.

Yeah RTR's have come a LONG way. Kits seem to be dying down or just for the "racer". They are decently priced now for a decent RTR. Tamiya has been coming out with some sweet re-releases lately, and also pretty much brought the Bruiser/Mountianeer back HPI has some sweet bodies, wheels/tires that i've ever seen and their "true" 1/10 scale Cup racers are just sweeeeet!

Mechanical speed controls sucked royally. The battery would go low enough so the receiver wouldn't work and the SC would stick wherever it was because the servo wouldn't move the wiper arm. This meant the intrepid driver had to take off running like a maniac to catch the damn thing. Sometimes the steering servo would stop in its last position and the car would go running off in a wide arc. Ah yes, fun times.

Man, you guys (and this thread) have me going through my Blackfoot looking for ways to get rid of the slop and maybe get some more speed out of it. And fix the steering.

I'm just trying to figure out why my Yokomo goes 2 feet and loses reception also the ESC beeps repeatedly and lurches the wheels each time?? I changed crystals and radios and everything and for some reason it only likes this one radio and crystal but yeah, it goes no where?

  1. It's fast as hell. The VXL system in the Traxxas is one of the best budget brushless systems on the market IMO.

  2. It's STRONG. Traxxas stuff has always been the most durable to me anyhow. Stuff that would blast the rear end of my t4 apart, my rustler's like "wut" and keeps going.

  3. It's an RTR. Traxxas RTR's aren't bad. And if you don't feel the need to build one, you open the box, plug in batteries, and go to war.

  4. Your kids will LOVE that thing. I read somewhere you had kids. Kids like this stuff. My uncle had to buy one for his 10 year old daughter after she got her hands on my 18mt. She now has a T4 RTR.... and it's awesome. I'm going over there to bash with her next weekend.

  5. it's 4x4. Multipurpose, yo! Stick some PVC mod wheels on it, buncha spacers in the springs, and you got yourself a little dorifto truck. pull all that crap out, you got a wicked track truck. Mess with the output on the ESC- you have a somewhat capable crawler. Stick some foamies on it, ROAD COURSE!

There ya go. Now you have many reasons to do this.

Sounds like antenna portion of the radio (the one on the car, TOTALLY blanking on what it should be called. ESC. There it is) is going bad. Have you swapped ESC's outright?

Tamiya, right? Easy. Aluminum crawler parts. a LOT of guys are converting Tamiyas of indeterminite origin into crawlers.

id rather build it myself but when was last time u saw a kit from traxxas? my kids are 2 years 4 months old and 4 months so umm ya thats not happening! i have a city park park behind my house with nice bike trails if you stand on my porch you can see enough of the trails to have serious fun!!!!! ive had a ton of fun with my rustler out there. (works better with the roadhawg tires on her than the minipins and ribs up front its really hard packed dirt. lots of clay) but want something a lil more fun and that looks a lil more badass. get a clear body and paint it up right and that truck will look awesome and ofcourse a 7c lipo will make things very fun!!!!

I was like, WHERE DO THEY SELL 7s LIPOS. That would be amazing.

In any event, if you don't want to do the Slash RTR, I know both Losi and Team Associated have kits for that exact same kinda truck.

im actually the slash rtr but buying a bunch of aluminum goodies which would require pretty much taking whole truck apart anyways so
