This is a subject I know like the back of my hand. I have 25 years of steady punk rock listening behind me and never intend to stop.

It looks like you have a leaning towards early british punk. Eater was really underappreciated in the late 70's but their stuff has really stood the test of time. Besides they are responsible for the two best Velvet Underground covers ever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH-k0CU1BpI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J29oZX41_8

Other vintage UK stuff that you should be listening to. X-Ray specs, stiff little fingers, the subhumans....man this list could go on for ever.

Personally I can't stand NOFX. I think they are the most boring and predictable band ever.

Early US scene bands like the weirdos (we got the neutrom bomb is crucial listening),

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p--ofeHvUts

X's Los angeles album is still one of the best albums of all time.

The avengers!

I could go on for hours and hours but I need to get stuff done

Fugazi, although arguably on the melodic side.

Stiff little fingers just played on Pandora a couple minutes ago and I really liked them.

I love the early stuff.

NOFX is ok nothing special to me.

Really? I like Cheap Trick a lot--but calling them a punk band is something that I would never do. "Power-Pop"...along the lines of Material Issue or Mathew Sweet, but not punk...

Does Blink 182 count as punk either?

start out with their earliest albums and I would say it does. (Dude Ranch and earlier)

I get that Travis Barker is a talented drummer and all, but I liked the band with Scott Raynor a lot better.

Yes it does. Not neccesarily good punk but it is a subgenre coming from a long tradition championed by the likes of the buzzcocks and continued by the descendents.

MDC. There was also an amazing punk band from Flint, MI BITD called the Guilty Bystanders. Their album is available for free download now too, as it was never really released.

Bad Religion
NoMeansNo
Snuff
The Misfits
The Briefs
The Spits
The Hanson Brothers (NoMeansNo with a slightly different lineup and playing Ramones-style punk about hockey and homebrew instead of bombastic punk about how berkeleyed up people are)
The Observers
The Soviettes
The Toy Dolls
The Undertones

A few of those are debatably punk, but I like 'em.

I forgot that Iggy Pop was brought up in the first post. Iggy's tunes made their way to australia and heavily influenced a group of guys that called themselves "Radio Birdman"

Radio Birdman was amazing. Here is some stuff from 1977

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h830PEauUzw

Why these guys aren't on every must listen list baffles me.

Birdman in turn influenced their fellow countymen The Saints

I can't state how much I love the saints. I haven't stopped listening to their first 3 albums in over 25 years. Not a week goes by without playing a track or two.

Didn't Iggy Pop influence basically every punk group?

(broadly) Pop punk is pretty much power pop sped-up. Blink-182 started out as pop punk, as did Greed Day (and All, The Descendents, The Mr. T Experience and a host of other bands on Lookout! records).

Pop punk is much more listenable than punk.

Fugazi appeals to be because so much of their stuff is melodic.

I just noticed my Freudian slip of typing "Greed Day" instead of Green Day. I literally didn't mean to do that (I don't have anything against them other than a lack of interest since 1994).

What, no D.R.I.? Or did I just miss it? Anyway, the early stuff is more punk, the later stuff more metal/crossover. They're still touring, and they still kick ass.

I also give more votes for Suicidal Tendencies (early stuff is more punk, later is more crossover, either way it rules), Misfits, Ramones, Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, NoFX and Minor Threat.

Don't forget the early New York scene: Television, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, and early Blondie... (the Ramones were already mentioned). Some different, and cool, flavors of punk there....

Oh, I don't know if your distaste for the Dead Kennedys lies with the music, vocals, lyrics... In any case, I do like the Dead Kennedys, but am also very fond of the albums Jello Biafra did with D.O.A. and with NoMeansNo. "The Myth Is Real (let's eat)" off the latter is one of my all-time favorite songs.
