After 48 years of dreaming, one year of doing and many revisions, last Thursday I published my first book (ebook).

The sense of satisfaction was simply amazing. I couldn't stop smiling. It'll probably sell 12 copies, but so what? Proud as a new father was I.
At 10 am the following morning, everyone in my company received an email telling us there would be significant job reductions and some states would be completely eliminated. Five minutes later, my boss emails everyone in our group telling us we're all out of work (including himself).
I think I'm done with corporations in general and insurance companies in particular. This is the second time this has happened working for the smaller, better companies. Working for the big name players always had me too highly stressed and miserable trying to live up to impossible expectations. I had a job offer from a dealership a few hours later, so things aren't a panic, but I'm disgusted, annoyed and would love to find something new to do.
I've made about $3.00 on my book so far, so I've got that going for me.
If you have written a book you have imagination and determination, Imagine what you want the future to be and determine to achieve it. Congratulations !
Good job on the book just the sense of satisfaction must be amazing. I feel you on the job situation in the insurance industry.
I left the IA firm I was at for 5 years after increasing workload a tigher deadlines with every file being auditted. Now I am semi in house as an estimator (homeowners) for a direct repair general contractor owned by the insurance company. Odd I know but so far so good. Still makes me nervous.

Click link. Read synopsis. Develop feeling you can't live a minute longer without having it on your reader.

How about an Amazon link?
Congrats on getting published!
Surely that is a pricing error at Amazon? I can't remember the last book I bought for under $10. I'll start listening to it on Tuesday.
I sent the link to my wife. Sounds like something she would read.
I'll purchase and read your book to help out. I feel you on corporations. I'm a month into a new position with a company I've been with for years and I see hair falling out at my desk everyday that and I'm grossly underpaid for what my position is and what I do. I've already started scanning for a different path. Maybe go back to active duty, maybe get back into the car industry, I want something with more job satisfaction than cube life offers.
Good luck on the search. Good luck with the book sales.
Sorry to hear, d.
And very happy to hear at the same time.
To make the slightest bit of levity- well, now you have some time to work on book 2.
I've got to get back and blow glass...

What insurance company, and what were you doing there?

Auto damage estimator. I've worked for a few over the years. This time it was Infinity, a high-risk insurer (think Safe Auto but with class). They are pulling out of multiple states; mine was one of them.
Congrats and condolences. I've seen that happen twice before, once with the Krystal burger franchises here (that was a total of 8 stores all at the same time!) and again with a car dealership. In both cases they were open for business as usual on Sunday, on Monday morning they were chained with a sign on the door saying they were closed for good and all positions had been eliminated.
