The Emerald Aisle was out of cars, so I got to take a Lincoln MKZ from the premier aisle this week.
I must say that I like riding in luxury. The car has lots of great features and the projectors lamps that put the Lincoln logo on the ground at night are just too cool. So are all the other things that light up. (useless I know, but cool)
The shifter however, is asinine. Check this out:

I thought they were radio buttons and couldn't start or drive the car for 5 minutes. Who puts such critical items on the dash, disguised as HVAC controls?!?! The car also has paddle shifters that move with the wheel, and have a 3 second delay built into them. I know this is not a sports car, but come on!

I think your pictures are private or something.
I can't stand the car based on the name alone: Em-kay-zee? Mark-zee?
What the heck was wrong with the perfectly fine name "Zephyr?"
Get off my lawn with your symbol speak gobbledygook.
you can blame marketing for that.. somebody probably mispronounced mark 10 one day as emm kay ex and it stuck. It's what happens when you don't teach roman numerals in school anymore

On paper and in person actually a pretty cool ride. I'm very rarely a Lincoln fan but I do have love for those. I had a new Regal T in my Emearald aisle a few weeks back and I was highly impressed. Aside from Chassis dynamics it is getting very close to the fit and feel of my last BMW. Side note it would smoke the tires thru 2nd gear...
Weird on the photos. Can you see this Album?

I really like the look of these.
having their own models that were that distinct would have really helped Lincoln and Mercury 20 years ago

This.
For the same money as the base MKZ you can get a slightly nicer equipped Fusion. And a few years ago the highest end package Taurus made the MKX damn near pointless.
I've got nothing against platform sharing, it makes sense. The Fox-body platform ran under the Mark VII and the Continental, while the Panther platform ran under the Town Car. Made great sense. But damn, when you are just slamming a Lincoln badge on a lightly reskinned Fusion or Taurus, don't expect people to come running.
