That actualy has the potential to be develope into something usefull and practical unlike the 80 year old dream of a flying car.

In the meantime I'll take a flying bike.

That looks like fun. Not sure what the point of the bicycle is if it's self-propelled by the fans - other than transporting the rig back to a charger.
Now add a small generator and you are set.
Just think of the mountain biking you could do with that!
This looks like a mythbusters project. 
Piasecki did that back in 57.
Both the complexity and ramifications of mistakes are orders of magnitude greater for flying than driving. The only way we’ll ever have flying cars if they operate autonomously.
Also, flying cars will need to be compact if they’re going to be widely adopted. This means overcoming gravity with reaction force which is inefficient so we’re going to need huge improvements in energy density for it to work.
Please share any other wonderful dreams you’d like me to crush.
It's just a matter of time before these guys start complaining about not getting any respect from the drivers of flying cars.
