I can appreciate your frustration. Rhode Island is another one of those states that makes it extremely difficult to register vehicles. Here, you can forget about "barn finds," no matter how great the bargain. Without a complete paper trail, and proof that every penny of sales tax has been paid to the great state of r.i., the car will end up being either be a vintage race car or a museum piece ... or, sent to the crusher.

When i get title and tag back I'll hold it for a month or two and sell it back to you for "$100" and send you with valid endorsed title. You register in Mass. Done. No local inspection so truck can sit in Mass entire time.
NO insurance requirement here until its returned to road use
Done.
Mass is close to Miss LOL
This is exactly what you should do.
Ovid and Flem is a good guy, 100% trust worthy. This is a no brainer....
Thanks guys, I do business in NH and Maine quite often as soon as the growing season starts, so it shouldn't be a problem. We're not in a hurry, it will be at least a year in restoration.

I think there is a minimum post count. If you can't, leave a message in this thread:

and one of the mods will help.

Private messages on this board are actually emails sent through the board.
How to:
Click on the header name/screen name of the person you wish to contact. That will open a new page and on that page will be a button to CONTACT that person.
On the whole "getting a title" thing:
Looks like your only choice is to have a friend in NH or ME register it and then sell it to you. If you do it in NH, the vehicle will need to be there; not sure if that's true in ME. If I remember correctly, a police officer or town official may have to be present when applying for a registration to inspect the vehicle to make sure it's not stolen.
When I bought my Power Wagon from ME, the guy told me he called his insurance agent, got the paperwork, went to the town office with the info and registered the truck. With that paper registration and a bill of sale, I walked into the RMV and handed them to the lady behind the counter along with my RMV-1 form (stamped by my insurance company), paid the appropriate fees, and off I went with new plates and a registration. Title gets mailed 6-8 weeks later. Make copies of everything, because the RMV will take that old registration and the bill of sale.
I think there are even companies that will do this for you for an additional fee, provided it's not stolen, up in ME and NH. If you know someone who could do that for you, that would be the safest bet though.
SC is such a PITA about titling vehicles. But once, some nitwit transposed a 5 to an S on the title. To straighten it out, all I had to do was to take a piece of paper and pencil and get a shadow of the VIN and take that in. Didn't have to take the car in.

I am not sure, but I'll look a little closer next time I see it and let you know. Is there a significance to either?
