Put this on your must see list!
I thought it was a good watch. I mean, you have to suspend reality, but then that's what watching these things is about, right? I would recommend seeing it.
Just watched it the other day. I mainly watched it for Scarlett Johansson and wasn't disappointed. Besides the fact that I got to watch her for an hour or so I felt it was mainly Meh.
I'll willingly suspend disbelief for a good fantasy story. I have no problem with magic. But don't try to sell me something like this and whitewash it as science fiction. That just pisses me off.
We watched it a while back. Left feeling very unimpressed. Even for a science fantasy movie the plot problems and inconsistencies were too much to take.
I had no desire to see it, but someone else bought my ticket. No desire to see it again, but I wasn't left wanting that hour+ back.
Had to look it up. Lucy could do with a sandwich or two. And what kind of last name is "Australopithecus", anyway?
I thought it was pretty terrible. "Look I can use the other 90% of my brain to manipulate matter, build a super computer and then become data". Gag. I was actually kinda pissed I paid $5.99 to watch it.
OTOH... if you want to see a good old fashioned shoot-em-up, kill every last motherberkeleyer flick with a plot revolving around the death of a puppy... watch John Wick. It's equally preposterous but more fun.

WAY more fun. I woulda been pissed if I paid to watch Lucy.
Why is this different than "Limitless?" Because boobs?
And +1 for John Wick being AWESOME. Such a ridiculous body count.
John Wick would have made "Edge of Tomorrow" a 5 minute movie. John Wick learns that the alien being insulted his wife. John Wick kills alien being. The end.
In reply to Swank Force One:
I've never seen limitless, but if it's the same movie without the boobs I'm not interested.
I think "Limitless" focused more on the mental side of things, if preview for Lucy are to be believed.
It's unfair to compare Limitless to Lucy. Limitless is more of a legit sci-fi movie on what a person might do if they had access to a drug that would greatly increase their intelligence (except for one massive mistake the guy makes, I won't spoil it). It's a pretty good movie.
Lucy is basically about a woman who gets so smart that she gains magical powers somehow which are good for fight scenes and stuff, and then she gets real real smart and gains godlike powers, the end. Crappy movie all-around. When I first saw the trailer I thought it was a Hollywoodized Elfen Lied, and that's basically what it is, and I mean that in the worst possible way.

We just got Edge of Tomorrow from a friend I think and got John Wick from Netflix. Was hoping they would be decent.

Yeah, that, but I think it was worth a buck or whatever cheap movies rent for these days. The plot was silly, and the bad part is that people watch movies and believe the plots are real (because they are only using 0.5% of their brains, I guess). But I still thought Lucy was worth watching for the body count and magic stuff. Like The Matrix. Just don't think that if you can use 100% of your brain you become a god. Personally, I don't believe that 10% stuff at all, and I was in the business. I've never seen a study that quantified 10%. There isn't even any real knowledge on how the damn thing works in the first place, so who can say we use 10%?
Yeah, John Wick. Watched it again last night. That's a pretty good one. Mess with his dog, will ya? Not twice. The cop at the door scene is hysterical.
There's a whole Wikipedia page on the "10% of the brain" myth:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_percent_of_brain_myth
I think most people know it's not true, which kind of makes it worse that it's such an important point in the movie.
I once went to a talk/q+a session with a writer from Star Trek. There was a guy who stood at the microphone and just went off on the writer about the theory behind the transporter, and how it couldn't possibly work, etc.
Some of you guys are starting to sound a bit like him...

What? Pretty sure the actual percentage is closer to five. I've worked my way up to 15% and I'm already bending spoons and E36 M3.
