As an ex pat brit I strongly refute that.  When I first got here in 94 things may have been a little better back in the UK.  These days quality produce is easily available in most grocary stores, and the improvememnt in quality and type of restaraunt food has grown in leaps and bounds over here.   

One thing I will say though, I laugh when people here poke fun a British food.  I mean, what's America's greatest contribution to the culinary arts?  The hamburger?  At least the Brit's have high tea and fish and chips.

American food elevates the whole "salt, fat, acid, heat" thing to a bloody art form.  As Bill Maher said, food here is designed to make your mouth cum.

Just because most food in America isn't even considered a food product in the rest of the world doesn't mean our blends of ultra processed chemicals aren't edible. They're just ridiculously unhealthy.

American food is giving British food to African and Hispanic people and letting them make it good.

Y'know how Indian people in England have figured out how to elevate traditional Indian food into its ultimate form? Cool... now take and do that with literally every ethnic group from everywhere in the world.
