I dislike degrasse Tyson, for the same reason I dislike that quote. Oddly enough, my argument is specifically archeology related, but applies in most other fields as well. Just because you haven't figured out how to disprove it yet, doesn't mean it's correct.

Science is not settled, particularly when you just throw away the results you don't like. Sorry, that's not how science, understanding, and education work.

Archeology, physics, cosmology, even geology, all suffer from human intervention. Specifically, the human ego. We would be literally decades ahead in some fields if it wasn't for the ego of fragile scientists that refuse to admit they're wrong or they don't understand, or the far more worse and far more prevalent in recent decades, finding answers that don't agree with the predetermined answers of the funding.

I'll even go as far as to say that since he started getting famous with Michio Kaku from the original ancient aliens runs, Tyson has become more of a personality than a scientist. He's become increasingly close minded, and increasingly egotistical, and in my opinion, could really use a sabbatical to relearn how to learn instead of regurgitate.

Meme totally unrelated and possibly a repost, just felt like having my pedantic rant.

Tyson's personality based "science" is pretty much the definition of how not to be scientific.

Not to imply everything he says is incorrect, just that it should viewed with due caution, beyond what the scientific process normally requires.

One doesn't throw out results you "don't like", you examine them.

Trying to find an expected result is the opposite of scientific method.

Like the Asimov quote...

Or they're afraid of losing funding.

Despite my agreement with this, it's getting dangerously close to starting another political dick waving contest, so here's some meme.

Which made me think of the appreciation of fine mechanisms, of the satisfaction of things like watch repair, and of BMW's approach to DIY service and repair. Now I want a license plate frame that says "No User-Serviceable Parts Inside" for my Mini.

Hot take: the MR2 Spyder is the better looking car. The 986 is too slab-sided, the headlights have aged worse, and the rear is just too big an expanse of smooth surfaces with nothing to break it up.

For people who respectfully disagree with your wrong opinion, here's some interesting info about the original Boxster show car -- www.stuttcars.com/porsche-boxster-concept/
