In August I got rear ended when I stopped for a red light. I did the requisite physical therapy for two months and when that didn't fix my neck pain and headaches, I was referred to a neurosurgeon. After a series of tests, I got the final diagnosis on Christmas Eve. I have a herniated disc at c4-5 which is pressing on nerves and will require surgery to remove the disc and do a fusion. Surgery will be sometime in January. In the meantime I have not worked since early November and am probably looking at another 2 months off with no pay I guess the good news is that it can be fixed.

Be very aware of who does the surgery, not many surgeons have good reputations with regard to this area.

You get to live with the results

Hopefully the at-fault party is compensating you for being unable to work.

The surgery will be done at Hershey Med Center. I have had a previous fusion done by them in 1995 and came out with zero restrictions and cleared to race 6 weeks after surgery. Hoping for similar results this time. I will definitely looking for lost wages and compensation for having to go through this in addition (pain & suffering in addition to some fine motor skills issues). My biggest concern is that he may not have sufficient coverage. I will have to wait for a final medical outcome and see where we are.

Good luck to you Don. I've been involved in the auto insurance side of this (both defense and subrogation) for a while, if you want some unbiased guidance on coverages or values or anything like that.

In reply to Sonic: If you email me your contact info @ don49ataol.com, I will give you a call. I have many years experience dealing with the collision damage aspect, but not with the personal injury. Thanks.

Damn, Don. That sucks. I'd really expect the at fault party to be taking care of the monetary and physical damages. As for the E36 M3ty situation in general, my second most visited forum is an epilepsy forum. It could be worse, my friend, but you know that. Good luck with it all.

Had surgery on Monday to take out the herniated disc and do a bone graft in ,my neck at c-4/c-5. Surgery went well , but I am out of commission for at least 6 weeks. However, considering all that could have gone wrong, it looks like IO will make a 1005 RECOVERY.

Too bad they couldn't have done an LS swap when they were in there.

Good luck. My dad had that done in the early 90's and has been fine ever since. The worst parts were wearing a hard collar all summer and being driven around by my little brother who had just gotten his license. To this day he can't stand my brother's driving,
