I was thinking about how much it would cost to run a group through an event, and what I might put together instead, when I had a terrible idea.
Parts:
- A large lot.
- A pair of older cars with Speed limiters and traction control. Miata might be the answer.
- A pair of Microsoft Hololens headsets.
Two competitors drive a course that appears on their Hololens, avoiding virtual banana peels, shells, and their opponent. If they are hit, an interface to the traction control selectively locks wheels to cause the car to spin.
Alternate constructions might involve application specific vehicles, or screwing with a Saab runway traction measuring device.
In other words, I'm talking about augmented reality Mario Kart.
Clearly, this is stupid, and nobody should try it.
Pretty sure someone did it not too long ago with go karts..
That sounds absolutely epic.
Sounds similar to my "full size bumper cars" idea.

We did that for real one night.. it was a spontaneous rolling demo derby on the streets of the next town over one night in the summer of 1992..
What about my idea for a redneck triathlon? Chug a six pack of Bud, hop in a Power Wheels car, and race around a cone-marked oval for 20 laps while shooting at each other with paintball guns. What could possibly go wrong?
I'm still bummed I didn't get to play this, the full size Pole Position game made with a Lancia. videos here
I like mikes idea, and novaderriks... Hmmm... This can't end well for my car. And G Body's idea too.. I always wanted to see drunken autocross, Power Wheels may be safer.

I was thinking more like large dirt lot and caged beaters speed limited to 20 or so with huge rubber bumpers (old semi tires?) all around.
