Three stories in extremely quick succession. I cannot believe what is happening these days.

1: Girl beaten to the point of having a seizure in a McDonald's

http://sourcefed.com/2011/04/25/mcdonalds-beating-victim-speaks-out-chrissy-lee-polis/

And the workers just watch it and film it. It took an old lady (who also got punched in the face) to stop it. Do people have no soul?

2: Father of four killed in cold blood after being beaten for stopping a fight

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2011/04/21/dad-who-split-up-fight-in-mcdonald-s-shot-dead-115875-23075797/

3: No idea about this backstory, as much as it looked, someone just got shot a few times while usng their phone.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1380642/Brooklyn-New-York-street-execution-caught-CCTV.html

Three nasty heartless stories right away within a week. All of these were pretty much cold blooded evil.

Seriously, this world is getting to be too much. If your a believer, pray. If you're not, hope for man's sake that this madness stops.

Hi Tuna55,

I think I know what you meant but just realize that Christians don’t have a monopoly on prayer.

Take care,

Standard procedure unfortunately. It probably isn't any worse than it was 50 or even 250 years ago. You just hear about it now. If it bleeds it leads and all news is national rather than local these days.

The "girl" in the McDonald's one was actually a dude in the Women's restroom. Not saying that's worthy of a beatdown, but, you know, there's always "the rest of the story." I didn't click on the other links. I know what people are capable of, and it's sickening.

My area has changed WAAAAY too much in the last couple years. I'm scared that at some point, there won't be any "sticks" to move further "out to."

I think the ratio of mindless violence to population hasn't changed in 100+ years. Yes, there's more of it, but there's also more people and it's MUCH easier to be broadcast.

Not that I'm condoning the violence at all, I just don't think it's a case of the "world getting worse".

While I don't know if it is getting worse, it certainly is getting ruder. In my life time at least, I'm 48, I've noticed a fairly large change in the way people interact with each other, and the way they deal with problems. I'm sure a lot of it can be traced to social media, but I also think there is noticably less parental involvement in large portion of the population these days. In that I mean go "good" parental involvement, and a total lack of teaching their kids decency and how to "play" well with others.

But to the original question, there have always been people with no remorse, and there has always been violence, and as long as there are humans, there always will be unfortunately.

To reply to a few of the comments:

I don't think the girls in the video (I did watch it) made any reference to the fact that this girl was a transvestite, and neither will I. I am not even sure why that is relevant.

I guess it doesn't matter if it's new or not, it's just plain evil.

It's not just violence, it;s just unmotivated violence. It's not as if these people had something against the victims, or even as if they were trying to something from the victims, it's just without soul.

I honestly think if you were able to go back a few hundred years (and even less of course) you would be shocked (and disgusted) at what was common behavior.

I was watching a show on Gallipoli and it was just insane to hear about what people would do (of course we are talking about Ausis ). I just can't imagine being able to get people to do such things these days. I almost think that in those times life was in general pretty miserable, so death wasn't that big of a deal, almost a release.

It absolutely isn't. Besides, even if you think that is justified, how would those girls know she wasn't just a particularly masculine woman (which might be the result of a medical condition, effects of medication, or just the way she is)? Did they reach up and check the equipment before pummeling her into a seizure? That whole thing was pretty sickening to watch and it kinda gives me chills to hear anyone even begin to make excuses for it.

I was just thinking about how some of the most beautiful and breathtaking places on this planet are also places you would not want to go without an armed escort which is really sad. There are places in Africa and South America that I would love to see though there is so much trouble in the areas it could be rather risky. Heck some areas we send researchers they are required to have military escort.

This.

Everything and anything is international news these days, all you have to do is look online. If the Internet had existed 50 years ago, the Yahoo news reports would have probably been about the same.

The last part is what I am having trouble with - all of this stuff makes me get those chills. Seems like a lot of excuses for behavior all around, but humans shouldn't act like that towards another human. It's another thing entirely from fighting over money, over drugs, over love (perceived or otherwise), for defense, for retribution... not that any of those are OK, they're not, but the fact that all of these are utterly without cause is the part that makes my blood run cold.

I don't know what to think of all that. I agree violence like that isn't new but it is still disgusting. We as a society should be developing not staying the same.

I appreciate the help. I ended up not being able to negotiate. What I was asking is not that you disappear from the face of the earth, nor the GRM boards, just this thread. Please.

I think it's time I took a break and spent more time with my family.

Thanks. I am seriously shocked. The same news stuff I always read, this is three times in a week. It's hard to take. Watching those videos is right up there with the decapitation stuff that was so popular during the Taliban war.
