Don't be. I can almost guarantee several of us here are with you, myself included. My solution is to do a million things at once, and just thrash til I get them done. My wife did go to the doctor. Vyvanse changed her life. She got a college degree, got a swanky job, all sorts of good things. Her solution is far healthier than mine. I forget to eat sometimes, which is odd because i'm fat.

I may have to rent a seat in someone else's car since we sold the Scirocco. Is the General still running?

The General is still running and shows up with a rotating bunch of drivers.

The Dirtbomb is also accepting co-drives, last I knew.

I am the same way. My last car took me 6 months of research. Any big purchase has the joy taken out of it by the time I pull the trigger.

Confession: it blows my berkeleying mind the abuse that The General has taken over the years. Hell, it's been five years since we were active in rallycross and The General was old and beat then.

I have it. My Grandma got me tested and everything when I was a teenager. She was very excited that we figured out what "was causing" my snnoyance with school and asked me what prescriptions I talked about with the Dr.

I didn't want any.

That's just me. I'll figure it out. I know the problem now.

Nope. I'll deal.

Now, I had a case of "adjusted ADD" which means I was already dealing with it. A friend who got a 600 something on his SATs because he daydreamed through it all probably actually needed meds. I did not. You may, or may not, but don't feel pressured either way. I learned ways around it. I lsiten to an MP3 player at work or pedal a stationary bike I keep under my desk so my mind has three of four things to do and it works out great.

Plus I am tired all the time because of kids.

When I was a teen. I would forget to sleep. I would lay down at like 10 and at three or four I would realize that I was sitting up in bed, and had been ever since I shut off the lights. My mind would jump around and hit on all o the things I had suppressed during the day. It was actually a very creative process, but one that sadly I have lost.

Sometimes during the summer in the pre-job days, I would go downstairs into the basement before breakfast in my boxers to start some work on my RC airplanes or something. I did this a number of times. I was always very surprised when Mom called me up for dinner, not having brushed (eww) shaved, changed, eaten breakfast or lunch.... nothing. So there was some hyperfocus in there as well.

I still have that ability to a certain extent. A year or so ago the wife and all of the tunakids were somewhere when I came home from work. This never happens. I wanted to do the laundry, make myself dinner, do the dishes they had left, clean the floors, and a bunch of other things. I finished them all at nearly the exact same moment. It was weird. I didn't even think about it.

If you can deal with it and make the world work for you, ADD can be a benefit, not a detriment.

Remember that the society is the reason it's hard. There is nothing -wrong- with you, it's just that your mind doesn't fit the nice neat controlled world out there. You can play along most of the time, and save the weaker moments for when it's not so critical.

I guess that was a confession by itself. Take my advice with a grain of salt. I did not have anything severe, and I've never met you to know if you're "easily distracted" or "drives off the road because of air drumming regularly".

I am pretty sure somebody made a deal with the devil to keep that thing going, so yeah, I'm not going to bet against it either.

OK, Here's my biggest one...

My mom had an old NA LeBaron. Autotragic, slow as hell. I used to drive it around before I had a car. There's a road here in Austin called Lime Creek Road. Look it up, lots of curves, elevation change, great fun with a proper car. Motorcycles are always on it. I was following a couple of bikes on there in the LeBaron and manually up and down shifting the transmission. Going as fast as I could go and late braking and engine braking into the corners. Towards the end of the road, the trans started to slip a little. I cut my shenanigans out and drove it home. 2 weeks later my mom had to have it towed because it wouldn't move. To this day, I have not told her it was me who toasted the transmission.

I just had a pleasant lunch time phone call with my wife. What sucked is that her mom called me this morning to tell me that her grandpa died. I once got a call that my sister died and all I wanted to do was hug someone and cry and I was all alone. I decided that I'd never tell someone something like that over the phone if I could help it, so I'm waiting until she gets home. It's a heavy berkeleying weight to carry all day and she might be really pissed at me. The next 5 hours are going to be long.

Sorry to hear that dude. Hope it goes as well as possible. That news always sucks.

It'll be OK. He was a pretty cool guy. Nursed his wife through terminal cancer 8 years ago and came out the other side to keep on living a great life. He'll be missed.

Sorry to hear about her grandpa. You're doing the right thing. It's a lot better to hear it in person.

Been there too much myself, you are doing the right thing to wait and tell her in a personal and private setting.

As an ex cop its better from someone close to her as well.

Even my Dad, who has possible called me a total of ten times in my entire adult life, called me to tell me about my Gram and my Gramps. We're a thousand miles away, so that's pretty good.

I've about had it with dedicated track cars. So much effort, so few opportunities to use them.

Whenever I change my elderly neighbors oil.. I also make sure the traction control (off) button is still functioning and her tires don't have too much tread.
