Women's swimsuit bottoms have gotten out of hand. My wife and I and friends did a river float today on tubes, and i saw way more of so many women than I should be legally able to see in public. Outrageous

I agree, awful.

I'm of the opinion that if a woman or a man wants to appear in public with their ass cheeks swallowing a thong, they should be allowed to.

I'm also pretty sure I don't want to hang out with them. Maybe when I was in my 20s that would be cool.  But now the WOOO! HOOO! girls set my teeth on edge.

And the sheer amount of cellulite they are showing is down right gross. I'm a fat ass. I know I shouldn't wear a speedo. Nobody wants to see that. Someone apparently needs to tell some of the thong crowd. Like damn, did they have to use an entire coil of rope to make it from the front to the back? That's nasty. Cover that lumpy ass up.

You guys don't have to look if you don't like it.

During my "business" trip, my company paid for my team to have two Hertz rentals. We ended up with a Grand Cherokee 3.6L and a Toyota 4Runner; both 2024 models.

We had to split up between two separate locations. The two other techs took the Grand Cherokee; we got the 4Runner.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the MSRP of the 4Runner. It's about $45k for the SR5 trim that we have.

I haven't driven ANY modern Toyotas so I don't really have a baseline on these.

But after two days of city and highway driving, I'm not impressed. The 4.0L V6 is uninspiring and doesn't care to be prodded. The 5 speed auto is slow to shift and is hesitant to downshift. It's pretty slow. The brake dive is hilarious. The first time I stopped quickly for a short yellow light I thought the suspension was broken. It's so soft. I find the steering heavy but not very precise.

I do like the interior though. I like the chunky manual controls for the HVAC. It's pretty roomy and I find the seats comfortable. I like the size. It's not huge but holds all of our gear. I'm not a fan of the styling at all.

Gas mileage is a little over 16mpg. My 2010 Chevy Tahoe with the 5.3L does better (barely).

I guess these are pretty capable off-road though. No off roading this trip save for a dirt road to get to our "site".

I'm not a fan and wouldn't buy one.

My company paid Hertz just over $4k EACH for the rentals for 12 days. Even the counter guys were like "WTF?! This is a horrible rate!". Not my money, so meh.

I recently drove a 2011 model (which is basically the same exact thing) and I was also unimpressed. Powertrain was lazy and boring, and i didn't think it rode particularly well. I also thought it was the worst of both worlds in terms of size. I felt the interior space lacking compared to my full size pickup (though i am over 6' tall) and simultaneously felt like it was very big/wide while driving narrow roads and parking. I wouldn't buy one

It is essentially unchanged for 20 years. And it is a true Toyota truck. In over 600k miles across 3 of them, my family has had to do basic maintenance and... nothing else.

That said, I'm trying hard to convince my FIL that he'd be much better off with a RAV4 or Highlander. Doesn't matter. He wants the 4Runner for the 3rd time. I don't fully understand why he doesn't just keep his, but 230k miles is enough wear on the interior for him I guess?

I have 2 suits, one is 10 years old and the other 17. They don't fit anymore.

Went shopping today. Had to have it today, unexpectedly got an interview tomorrow. WTF is up with everything being slim fit? Two of them I couldn't even get the pants over my calves.

I mean, I get it. People who buy these love them. I would sell some internal organs for a decent 1st Gen with a manual. But I was kinda shocked how poorly a "modern" vehicle drove. And this is coming from a guy who dailyed a 2 door JK Wrangler for 7 years.

We had to drive about an hour from the airport to our hotel and the Grand Cherokee was better in every regard. I was surprised lol

I don't understand the slim fit, stretchy fabric, highwater pants aesthetic either. That works really well on young women in perfect physical condition. On everyone else, it looks like they're trying to wear clothes stolen from a junior high volleyball team. I understand that everybody can be whoever they want to be, and far be it from me to take that from them, but it's an undignified look at best.

Modern suits all look like you are wearing a suit you got as a 16 year old.  Are you sure one of your old suits isn't perfect in the moden style?

Wait until they both are 4 years old, see which one had issues, which one had none. That's why people buy them. Yes they're slow, yes the transmission is outdated, yes they're 2008 technology. I've had a bunch of vehicles, the 4runner is the only one I've never even thought about selling, it just does what I need it to do with no drama.

The 4Runner excels at one thing above all else. Reliability. A distant second is off-road capability. But that price tho...

If you're gonna have a newer Toyota, the standard Corolla and the 4Runner are really the only things I can recommend.

damn fleas.

Did a property walk on Friday and came home to find them on my pants and socks. Been killing every one I've found and cleaning everything, last 2 early on Saturday. Hadn't seen any all day Sunday until I was sitting on the floor at 9:30.

One time I'm glad I don't have furry pets.

The current 4Runner didn't do much for me visually until a neighbor got one and customized it. It's black with bronze wheels and has a low profile row of lights across the roof and a couple big round ones in the grille. It's amazing and looks like a 90s kids fever dream of a future truck. I'll try to get pics some time I see it about once a week on the road. I'm not sure where he lives but we live in an area of huge lots so I can't just go poking around looking for it.

I also had a 4Runner rental and had mostly the same opinion, it was almost comical to me how it almost see-sawed due to the suspension when you came to a stop. But my coworker loved it, so there's a but for every seat. I feel like It needs a diesel, though. Did they ever sell them in foreign markets with the hilux diesel powertrain?

We have a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the 3.6 V6, and it has been fantastic.  Plenty of power, drives great on the highway, comfortable, gets over 20mpg around town.  Good enough off-road for anything short of serious rock crawling.  4 years old, approaching 50k miles and no issues (yes, knocking on wood).

My nephew bough a 4 Runner a few years ago, not sure of the year, probably 5-6 years old at the time.  The interior was awful...  I'm not sure if reliability is enough, if it's a hateful place to be....

The good news. It's going to be cooler this week with highs in the low to mid 80s.

The bad. It is going to come with something like 30" of rain.

We won't be hot but we may drown.

He has serious buyers remorse, and absolutely HATES it.

Maybe that's why Toyota drivers are the biggest shiny happy people on the road. They're bitter and angry because they're stuck driving these miserable pieces of E36 M3 they paid a premium for

It's show week... again. I feel like it's groundhog day since we just did this a month ago. Already off to a great start- The Dancer was woken up by a phone call this morning (which actually worked out being good since I had turned my alarm off instead of hitting snooze and had overslept...) from one of the guest dancers that there was an issue with the flight they were supposed to take last night that means they won't be here for the rehearsal tonight. A rehearsal that was mainly for purpose of getting said dancer back up to speed on the pieces they are dancing in. We still have 2 more dancers that are flying in over the next few days... hopefully nothing else goes wrong with their flights.

I've been secretly (from her) working on something special for the 10th Anniversary lobby display but ran into a considerable snag over the weekend. I think I've got a fix, but it's not simple and it will be impossible to work on it while she's around without her noticing and asking questions about what I'm doing (especially if I'm not careful and end up with teal fabric dye on my hands). So if the rehearsal tonight gets canceled it may be impossible to keep it a secret until the show itself. I'm already likely not going to be able to put the lights on it like I had wanted- well, I'm definitely not going to be able to do it how I had wanted to which was using a RPi Pico to control the lights, but I may not even have time to put lights on it at all.

None of this was helped by the fact that I got a frantic text Friday night when she was at rehearsal that the 'bed had died'. One of the pieces (about nightmares) involves a bed and at several points they drop one of the dancers (almost throw) down onto the bed, so it didn't wholly surprise me that the frame had broken- so I had to head out there that night to get the frame to bring it back and then spent the entire next morning repairing it (drilling out the two broken rivets that held on a wheel bracket to be able to use nuts/bolts and then also welding all of the brackets to the frame so it was far less likely to happen again). Don't get me wrong- I enjoy stuff like that, but not as much when there are other things that I had been needing to work on.

It's funny how people complain about cars and updates or the lack of them even though the car can still be driven.  I have a B&N Nook that they decided to just stop supporting.  So all of the books I've bought over the years are only available via a web browser, since they also don't have a PC app to download the books.

Basically, the device is bricked and I don't own the books I paid for.

At least you can drive a car when the nav system isn't working.

I owned a 2019 Tacoma for 3 weeks. Should have been a great truck, crew cab, long bed, V6, leather, etc.  I hated it and sold it with @400 miles on it.

I actually bought two suits. Both were ostensibly "Classic Fit" though from different stores and different brands. Took them home, tried them on for my wife to give her opinion. The one "Classic Fit" was far too skinny, and her comment was that it looks feminine. Made me laugh - and that's not saying there is anything wrong with that look, but it sure isn't the look that either of us like on me.

In reply to 4Runner folks :

The Limited rides better than the SR5/TRD.

They did have diesels until the 4th generation - 2003-2009. Not sure if the diesel was available the whole way through and what countries and if it was any good.

I really love them. Not many situations where it is necessary or the best option, but if it weren't for the odometer and my brother being a slob, his (which used to be moms, which I found and bought with dad) 240k mile '07 feels exactly like it did when we bought it with 17k miles.

I HATE the look of the new one, but then I hated the 5th generation when it came out as well.

Rant: I hate gas leaf blowers. So berkeleying loud.
