Scott Williams is the CEO of Batteries Plus. Here's a few possible email addresses for him:

swilliams@batteriesplus.com
scott.williams@batteriesplus.com
scott@batteriesplus.com
s.williams@batteriesplus.com

Send him an email outlining the sitution and see what happens. Next step is calling your state Attorney General's office. That's a serious chunk of change for them to blow off.

I went to the store I bought them from over lunch. Now I'm just stuck in the "our $75 tester says they're good to go" phase of the battle. Which is the part I knew I was up against.

Nope.  We don't need to do that either.  There were plenty of causes for that, his post was just the last straw.

I shouldn't have called him out either, and I'm sorry for doing so.

For Bob's sake, you made your point.  It was seen.  You're on record as being righteous.

Next time, drop it and move on.

arrived at the airport around midnight and went to get the rental car I reserved. there was no one at the desk and I couldn't get through to anyone on the phone. Avis was supposed to be open until 1am, but I guess they ran out of cars and just went home. Now I had to take a $100 uber to my hotel in a different city, and I'll have to pick up a rental car in town in the morning.

Did you give the customer service 1800 number a try? I managed to get someone to an abandoned airline ticket counter in an analogous situation via their national CS number.

Man, the same old E36 M3 on the forum gets tired after a while.

Maybe some of the usual suspects need a little time off so they can sit in the corner and think about what they've done.

It's pretty easy to scroll on by. I recommend it if a thread or person is getting under your skin.

The only irritating part is the meme thread being locked. If it stays that way for long I'll be starting a new one.

It was really more of a comment on what Appleseed said. There's nothing weird going on here lately it's 100% business as usual.

I have no problem scrolling by, but it still gets tired when interesting threads get locked because the same few people get involved and purposely and completely derail them.

When I used to complain about the political and religious threads back in the day, and people would say, you don't have to read it if you don't like it, they missed what I was really complaining about. It made the forum, a car forum, a not very enjoyable place when people were constantly arguing. This forum has come a long way from those ugly days, and I know why threads are constantly being locked, but I don't have to agree with it.

I took the rage bait this morning.

I got on social media, saw something, verified it was real, got mad, told someone else about it IRL, felt bad because I realized I sounded like a crank and more so because I fear I represented a negative to their day.

I am getting very little out of my routine, non-task-driven internet time these days. I need to establish a good regimen for finding out about the world, then being done.

What's the news? What are the humans who I actually know up to? What's the vibe around my niche hobby interests?

Okay, done.

I just need to figure out how to do that.

I used The 1440 for morning news briefs. It is short and to the point with no opinion.

I use Allsides for more in-depth news. It offers exactly what it says. All sides of the story including some opinion.

GRM is of course a source for some motorsports.

From there, I have a very select group of Facebook friends and a fairly short list of Facebook groups that I follow.

Step One to getting more satisfaction would be to skip that bolded part.

If it's important, you'll find out about it.

If you don't find out about it naturally, it was probably rage bait anyway.

When you are hanging out with your car buddies is cars all you talk about? My car buddies cover an entire gamut of subjects. I don't expect the forum to be different. It's not the subjects that get threads closed, it's the people who can't walk away when the participants become unreasonable. The forum owners don't agree so some subjects are verboten. I completely understand why so I try to play by their rules.

I do agree having good threads locked isn't a good thing. Unfortunately, the meme thread is an easy target for going a little sideways. One man's fun is frequently another man's offense. I know for a fact that I push the limit on occasion because I honestly find most offensive things funny.

And to reinforce Mike's point: I have become so thin-skinned, cynical and reactionary that I read 1440 and, before I could stop myself, falsely correlated it to an AM radio frequency, assumed it was about as unbiased as you'd expect from talk radio, made an unfair snap judgement about your bias, and started mentally mumbling to myself that there are no neutral news sources left. All without so much as as even cursory research into the validity of the outlet.

I am not good at 2024.
